I usually get my birth Control depo shot with planned parenthood. I have for a while now coming up on two years and this was my first time at this one. The staff was friendly so there were not any issues there, but I did have a 10:40 appt and ended up there in the back until 11:30, which can be understandable under circumstances of staff as well as patients it was just a bit frustrating. My main area of concern is how my injection was administered. It was not in my deltoid muscle as it should've been. It was injected into my bursa, which is way to high and can cause damage to the shoulder. The shot was incredibly painful due to where the fluids were being dispersed, and now there is consistent pain and numbness in my arm. Im hoping it is not something that will be a permanent damage or long lasting pain.

I am so grateful for the care I received here with Dr. Simmons and his staff, especially Emileigh and Sabrinna, who were incredibly kind and attentive. During a very painful and traumatic time, they made sure I was seen twice to ensure I was okay and helped manage my pain. Their compassion and dedication were truly remarkable. I highly recommend their services to anyone needing compassionate and professional care.

ill give credit where its due, my doctor and intake nurse were very kind and helpful for my breast exam..however, the front desk lady, emileigh, was very cocky and almost rude.
you cannot hear anyone at the front desk through the plexiglass, i told her multiple times i couldn't hear her and she would just roll her eyes and start talking like i was incompetent (example: THE QUICK...BROWN. FOX. JUMPED. OVER. THE LAZY. DOG. OKAY?). i had accidentally mixed up the date for my appointment, and when she told me i had missed my appointment yesterday, she looked at me like i had kicked a box of puppies.
her behavior brought me to tears more than missing my appointment, i was refered to by her multiple times by my deadname despite letting staff know i dont go by it.
im lucky to not have to go back, because it was extremely upsetting.
EDIT: Emileigh was at the front desk with another woman, curly brown hair, medium brown skin, and she was rolling her eyes and snickering the whole time like it was funny. i didnt find any of it funny at all.

Called today to set up a new patient appointment for transgender affirming care (hormone replacement therapy). I was a previous patient at MUSC where I started my hormone therapy and services are no longer offered there, so my journey for a new home doctor has been hard, BUT Juliette who assisted me was very polite, caring, sensitive and very helpful! Before I spoke with Juliette, I had made a call to a different doctor and the receptionist was insensitive and rude. Juliette made me feel very welcomed, listened to my needs and already made me feel right at home. I look forward to my appt in July. THANK YOU JULIETTE :)
