My mom's staircase ( from the kitchen down to the garage ) has a door just 1" from the edge of the stairs, but the Bruno Elan lift they installed lets the chair's edge completely enter her kitchen for safe/easy access to it even though the rail's end does not cross the threshold ( which allows her kitchen door to still close ). Install was done in under an hour. Can't go wrong with these folks.
