The staff do their best but significantly under staffed resulting in significant line ups and wait times.

I've never had this many issues with getting prescriptions filled in my life. Tall blonde lady said I need identification to pick up a script even though I provided information to confirm I. No one has ever done this before. Then after I show her, she asks if I'm picking it up for her? Not even matching up my name with the name on the script. Horrible. ZERO stars if I could. Next time they send me a text that both scripts are ready then they give me two of the same thing instead of the two different ones it was supposed to be. It's not good

The staff are very nice and caring, they provide good service. But the pharmacy has been horribly understaffed for almost a year. They do not answer the phones as there's no staff, the line can easily take 30-45 minutes of standing just to be told your prescription is still not ready. The staffing issue is so bad I don't know why they even run this pharmacy. Either find more staffing or close it down, it's not a reasonable service in its current state. Trust these other reviews. Canned responses from media managers does nothing to help the issue here.

I don’t care how great they may be when I finally get in there, the fact is that I have to go in there and wait in a line to find out if my prescription has been ordered by Mr Dr or not or what its status may be because they never answer their phone. Never! And I just switched from Walgreens. Time to look elsewhere again.

Updated Review – Still One Star Safeway Pharmacy replied to my original review asking me to “use the contact page” and include my phone number so someone could reach me. That would be great — except it’s impossible. When I try to follow their instructions, I end up on the Corporate Safeway website, where the only thing available is a mailing address. There’s no email, no phone contact form, and no way to actually include my phone number anywhere. When I try to sign in to the pharmacy section to check my refills or request delivery, I enter my email or phone number, get the verification code, and then get stuck in the regular Safeway shopping site — never the pharmacy. There’s no way to reach anyone or access prescriptions. It’s 2025, and this system is completely broken. Today, I waited two and a half hours for my prescriptions, and one still wasn’t filled, even though my doctor sent it in two weeks ago. I finally gave up and left. Halfway down the block, I got a text saying it was ready. I would have turned around, but there were 25 people in line behind me, and I wasn’t about to wait another two and a half hours when I already don’t feel well. The pharmacy staff themselves are wonderful people — polite, hardworking, and doing their best — but they are severely understaffed and unsupported. Safeway needs to take accountability and stop hiding behind corporate PR responses. Reliable Staff, Chaotic System Safeway Pharmacy has been my go-to for quite a while, but lately, I’m on the fence about staying. The staff themselves are truly five-star — friendly, professional, and always doing their best under pressure. Unfortunately, they’re clearly understaffed, and it shows. The phone is rarely answered, the lines stretch endlessly, and by the time you finally get to the counter, you might still be waiting to find out if your prescription is even ready. The website and app experience? Let’s just say “nightmare” is putting it kindly. Trying to reach anyone by phone or confirm a refill feels like a test of patience — and sometimes sanity. The text notifications come through only sometimes, leaving you guessing and hoping for the best. All in all, Safeway Pharmacy has heart and hardworking people, but the system itself is tangled in chaos. I’m grateful for the employees who genuinely care — I just wish corporate would give them the staffing, tools, and technology they deserve.
