DeCoach Hamilton/Fairfield is actually doing some great work in the world of recovery! As of 11/6 I'm a client since 8/22 and will be here until 11/20. The program is designed around more freedom of movement, the AA community here in Hamilton has become my life, and I have Decoach to thank for that. I have had ups and downs, and have had to adjust to them, as well as they to me, however things have always worked out, and Kim McCormick really has been at bat for me, and has been very understanding about certain issues I've had. I have also come to trust and respect Kim and Mike very much, even if I have been on the receiving end of certain discipline for my own actions 🙃. I get what I put into the program, however nearing the end of my stay here, I am getting anxious to work my AA program and have had to curtail my work with my sponsor a bit and service work, which has frustrated me, however I have to remember: recovery is not a race, it's a marathon, it's ok to slow our roll. I trust these individuals to know what's best for me, as my best ideas got me into this whole situation in the first place...so what do I know!? So lastly as any program is never perfect, but this one has actually helped me. CCC did not.

The staff was pretty nice, I don't really have any complaints there. However I was completely mixed up identity-wise with some completely other person and I do not know how well they practice the HIPAA. It just has been a bumpy start.

I only had to go there twice. First to do an assessment. I only had to be here do to a court ordered class that was required by the judge. It had nothing to do with mental health, any kind of drugs at all, anger management or any other kind of behavioral issues. But I was forced to come in the first day because their policy insisted on getting assessed. Which to my surprise and unbeknownst to me also required that I devulge my personal, private medical issues including mental health as well as any prescription drugs I was taking at the time. Which personally I didn't feel was relevant to anything as to the reason I had to be there. I was made to fill out multiple pages of paperwork describing my medical mental and physical health issues and had to answer questions that basically just assumed that I was there because of issues with drugs, alcohol and anger or mental issues. When I asked the receptionist and informed her as to my reasoning for being there and that nothing at all was because of any issues or charges or anything having to do with all these other questions and by the response by her sounded doubtful that I was being truthful or that I was in denial of this. And still has to answer everything even though they all felt degrading and and invasive to me. Then I was informed that I was going to have to submit a urine sample for testing. Nobody had informed me or had ordered me to take any tests of any kind but they were requiring this of me regardless. I wasn't prepared to make myself pee and had gone shortly before I'd arrived already. So I needed to force myself somehow or I would be regarded as trying to hide something. Then I had to wait past my appointment time until I was able to have my assessment from one of their staff. And had to devulge everything I had wrong with me physically and mentally and why I was taking my prescriptions and who had prescribed them etc. Now I have a lot of physical ailments I'm currently being seen for by many different doctors and specialists and unfortunately am having to take more different medications than most people including multiple mental health drugs as well as higher than average stimulants do to multiple sleep disorders I'm diagnosed with as well as medication for sexual dysfunction issues coming from the multiple medications I'm having to take. All of this was embarrassing for me to have to tell someone I don't know or trust and hadn't been given any opportunity to do any research on or anything. All the while being asked and reasked a few times if I was and how long had I been taking various illegal substances again being made to feel as if I was lieing or hiding something from her. Finally I was finished with that and then had to sit and wait until someone was able to bring me back and take the urinalysis. Still not feeling any urge to be able to go yet. Once brought back the person stepped out of the bathroom area but remained at the door and monitored my peeing into the cup through a mirror angled in the corner above me in order to watch me go. Now I not only didn't have to go, I had stage fright as well. Finally I was able to go an inch or so and she took it pulled off a strip and it revealed the results. Which accused me of taking Amp, MDMA and crystal meth .Now om feeling as if everyone will now look at me as an addict or junkie. I vehemently denied having been on any of these but she looked at me like she's heard this all before. I then needed to contact them to make sure they had listed all my prescriptions down properly because I was currently being prescribed six different meds that would for sure make me give a dirty looking urine sample. And being reasured everything was documented correctly. Then after all this time spent here already I had to come back the next day for the required class. And having to pay them $150 in order to be able to attend this class and then having to sit in the class for four hours.
