- SCSheila CampbellJun 19, 20231.0I see that most of the reviews are from first time hearing aid users. The reviews were positive. I agree that Dr.McKinney is personable. But there were some unsatisfactory issues that prompted me to go to another audiologist today. I was shocked by the difference in the services I received. Based on my experience, I suggest that new patients ask these questions: what kind of hearing test is used?. The tests I received from Southland Audiology consisted of responding to tones. It took less than 15 minutes. Today I had a hearing test that included tones, hearing the spoken word, repeating words, and a vibration test. The testing took at least an hour. 2. What routine services can you expect? At Southland Audiology, I was advised to call if I needed anything. When I did call, I had to leave a callback request because a human rarely answers. There were delays to get in because this is a one person office and no one else is available to step in. 3. What is recommended follow up? Today after my hearing test and adjustment of my hearing aids, I was scheduled to return in 6 months to reassess the appropriateness of my hearing aid settings and for routine cleaning of hearing aids. At Southland Audiology my hearing aids were never cleaned. Further I was advised to remove the wax guards on my hearing aids because’ they got clogged up and muffled hearing’. I’ve learned since that wax guards are critical to keeping aids clean and functioning. I suggest that you do some comparison shopping when you’re looking for an audiologist
