Long Island Care Center has many improvements over the last few years. The staff was warm and friendly on my most recent visit. Check in is updated and seamless. There are still some capital improvents needed, but I am sure they are on their list. Please keep implementing meaningful and positive change; this is both impactful for the residents and their love ones. Thank you for all you do for our live ones!

When my wife suffered a stroke in March of 2021, I was given a list of the step-down sub-acute rehabilitation centers in the area from Jamaica Hospital. I had no idea who was who or what was what. I did however know what the CMS was and the list showed that their recent performance rating was five out of five stars. For this reason, I choose Long Island Care Center. The stroke left my wife on a ventilator with a trachea tube connection. I was impressed with the care she received on the second floor and the result that came from it. She responded very well to the treatment.
By May 2021, she was ventilator and trachea free. I don't want anyone to think it was all a bed of roses during her entire stay at the facility. The city was in the midst of the Covid Pandemic at the time, so things got a little hectic at times. Like most of these types of facilities, they try to get the most work out of the least amount of CNA staff. That can cause somethings to fall between the cracks. I was fortunate enough to be able to be at my wife bedside, on a daily basis where I took care of her, adult diaper changes, bathing and dressing needs. Most residents are not that fortunate. So, for the most part our experience there earned a four out of five-star rating.

They have nurses that are amazing and have to deal with a lot
The older you are I will say makes things more difficult
But the staff at this facility try their best
So does physical and occupational therapy
They make sure you improve
They make sure you leave here better than you came.
They even try to get your insurance to keep you here longer if needed.
Angie and Aid Racheal are amazing people and you are lucky if you are paired with them.
I could include more people but this would be too long.
You don’t get better faster unless you want to get better and put in the effort because they put in as much as you do.
They could help you get better or they can just do what they’re paid to do
It’s up to you
Any other bad review I don’t understand
The food here is better than the hospital
But not better than food made at home.
Thats why the goal is to get better, get stronger and capable enough to go home.

Staff on the second floor of a short terms are different some stuff can be very nasty, specially on the 6 floor for the LTC Denise B is the worse person in that facility, because of her I rate it 1 star
