I’ve taken quite a few spin classes over the years, and unfortunately, this SoulCycle class with Julie was one of the worst I’ve ever attended.
To start, Julie didn’t help a single person set up their bike—no instructions, no guidance, just jumped right in. For a class that prides itself on community and experience, that was a big miss. Once things started (late, by the way), she offered zero explanation of the movements, never participated in them herself, and didn’t give any direction about resistance levels. We were all basically flying blind.
She kept referring to long stretches of pedaling as “sprints,” which—if you’ve ever done a real sprint—makes absolutely no sense. And this may be nitpicky, but she repeatedly used the word “strong” in completely the wrong context, which was both distracting and irritating.
The cherry on top? The class started late but still ended right on time, short-changing everyone by several minutes.
Absolutely a terrible experience from start to finish. I expected way better from SoulCycle. Avoid Julie’s class if you value instruction, motivation, or even just basic structure.
