This place as a Blink used to be one of the best Blinks. Now that it’s PureGym, I would tell people to join a different place and I’m looking elsewhere too.
The enter/exit through “pods” is the WORST. It slows the whole process and scanning to leave when my phone is almost dead is useless and crowds people at the doors which is a fire hazard. it makes me angry as soon as I get to the doors.
The layout for the new machines that no one asked for doesn’t make sense. Even the color scheme is bland and cookie-cutter gym. The Blink used to have each gym decorated specifically to the neighborhood at least. AND the staff here were nice and now they’ve just been replaced by a scanning system? No human level anymore. I feel like we were polled to ask what we wanted to give us the illusion of choice when PureGym/ Blink had already made up their minds what they were going to do. Truly, truly disappointing.

They’re all about taking stealing your money . No way of canceling ,no refund . They over charged me ,no way of getting in contact , except through email and they put me in a 40$ plan on their own then when I ask for a lower plan they charge me again for a new membership very sneaky of them . Check all your charges with them . They are over pricing you . I liked it better when it was blink fitness . I haven’t seen any cleaning people either . And Woodside gym is a hot mess with dust and plastic all over the walls and they have the balls to charge full price .half the machines are gone . I need to cancel but they already charge me for two new memberships just because I wanted a lower plan . I got coned in Believing it would all be the same as blinkfittness . I will be canceling and going some where else but first I’ll Cancle my card so they can’t charge me more for their lies and sneaky way of operating their business. I see a law suit coming . Every one need to stay one top of their charges.

Yet another monument to the progression of our day to day alienation. Privacy and human interaction slowly disappear, more security cameras deck the ceilings in a quiet unblinking constellation. Normal doors are replaced by stifling pods that feel like more like a security checkpoint than a simple means of egress. Employees (who all are very helpful and friendly) greeting you at the door are replaced by a series of QR codes. The space, which remains well maintained and clean, begins to smell of the sweat of “progress,” “convenience,” and a new glute machine. Strange and uncomfortable times. I will continue to go as it’s the closest gym to my house.

As many others have said, the installation of the pod doors has made this gym so much worse. It’s a serious safety/ fire hazard, claustrophobic, sizeist as you can’t fit in there if you’re over a certain size, and EXTREMELY inefficient as the doors take so long to open and close. It’s absurd that you need to exit through them as well because you always have to wait to leave now. When I’m done with my workout I just want to get out of there, not stand in line to leave! Also having the windows in the stretching room uncovered is another terrible change. I no longer want to use that room because I feel too exposed. Every single change that’s been made since the new ownership took over has been terrible.

STOP CUTTING COSTS BUT CHARGING THE SAME MEMBER PRICE!
Astoria Pure Gym is honestly awful, bring back Blink!
There are men cleaning the women’s bathrooms, and only one maintenance person responsible for the entire gym and all bathrooms. Completely unacceptable and unsafe for women and I feel bad for the worker.
I went on Sunday morning, and there was garbage all over the locker room. Came back Monday morning, and the same trash was still there LOL
Even worse, there was fluid on a toilet seat, and staff said there was no one available to clean it because maintenance was cut and the next person wasn’t scheduled until tomorrow.
The “soap” in the dispensers isn’t even real soap, it doesn’t foam, has no scent, and barely cleans.
There’s no hand sanitizer anywhere, and only one wipe station for the entire downstairs, and two for upstairs? which runs out by 1pm and isn't replaced.
And why is there still no frosted glass by the stretching area? It’s so uncomfortable as a women.
All these cost cuts, but somehow there’s money to paint the walls, hang meaningless “motivational” signs, and make the gym 24 hours and add those very expensive claustrophobic pods????
PUREGYM, why buy a company just to slash quality, cleanliness and safety?
If you can’t afford to run a proper gym, don’t.
