Thank you to Christina and Maria for helping to arrange for a caregiver for my mother in law on short notice. My mother in law was hesitant because she had a bad experience with another agency. Thankfully, Maribel has been wonderful. She is kind, soft spoken with a great sense of humor. My mother in law enjoyed the company and assistance she provided. She also cooked healthy meals and my mother in law actually put on a few pounds that she really needed to do. She has regained her strength and we cannot thank Maribel and the rest of the team enough. I highly recommend this agency.

We had a prior agency. This agency is sooooo much better in all ways. I have one primary contact here whom I can text at any hour and he responds very quickly. Although their hourly rate was a few dollars higher than our previous agency they are worth the extra. Also they were willing to structure a lower total hour minimum per day. So we actually enjoyed overall savings with a higher level of care, dependability in aides, and superior customer service. Their invoices are always correct (can’t say that about prior agency) and they work directly with our insurance carrier for the partial payment that comes from the long term care insurance. I can’t recommend this agency enough!

I have tried a few Home Care companies for my parents. I had the same problems with all of them. The aides were always late. After assisting with dressing and bathing, they spent most of the time sitting around doing nothing... Then I tried Home Care Assistance, what a difference! The manager told me all of their aides drive so there would be no issues with them getting to work. She also told me that their aides were trained in how to engage clients in activities and socialization. ALL TRUE! I am so amazed with the quality of Home Care Assistances service that I was prompted to write my 1st ever review. The aide engages my father in all kinds of activities and games. She takes them on social outings. The Nurse put a binder full of word games, exercise and other activities in the home for the aide to use with my parents. The aide includes my mother in cooking meals and has my mother instruct her in how to cook some of my mom’s “signature” dishes. The Aides, the Nurse, the office staff all Wonderful!
Frequently Asked Questions About TheKey - Senior Home Care
What is home care?
Home care is a supportive service provided by a professional caregiver in the home or community where a resident lives (in addition to facility supports) for peace of mind, companionship, and personal care. Caregivers can perform tasks such as running errands, preparing meals, assisting in the shower, fall prevention, and initiating brain stimulation activities to stimulate cognitive function.
How do I find the best caregiver for my loved one?
The best caregiver is an experienced professional who has the training and skills to support your loved one’s care needs. It’s also imporatnt to find a caregiver who’s extremely reliable, has back-up if necessary, and is a good fit in terms of personality and shared interests.
How much does home care cost?
Home care is typically billed by the hour, so the cost depends on the number of care hours per week and can vary slightly by region. Most families pay out-of-pocket for their care or use long-term care insurance.
How are you protecting your clients from COVID-19?
We follow infection mitigation best practices and safety protocols, informed by the CDC and local authorities, and provide appropriate PPE to our caregivers. The majority of our caregivers and Care Team members are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Is a home care agency better than hiring a private caregiver?
If you value safety, security, and reliability, yes. A quality home care agency is insured and also manages the performance and scheduling of its caregivers, handles billing and payrol, and has back-up caregivers to fill in when needed. With a private hire caregiver, you’re responsible for setting up payroll and withholding taxes, caregiver vetting and background checks, and purchasing sufficient liability insurance to cover any accidents or injuries in the home.
Will my long-term care insurance cover home care?
It depends on your policy. If this is your first time using your benefits for home care, it’s best to contact your insurance provider to be sure that you have an active claim, confirm any applicable elimination period, and clarify the services covered under your policy. TheKey is an approved provider with most major Long-Term Care (LTC) insurance carriers-and we have a free service to help our clients navigate all aspects of the claims process.
