I have heard the best things about Carolina dunes from my families that I work with! They are caring, compassionate, and skilled. As a clinician and an outreach rep, I would absolutely recommend Carolina dunes!! ☺️

Why yes, I think I will leave a complaint. This is the sort of hospital that can’t adequately understand the water needs of a human being. The first and most basic of needs. I wonder what they think they know about healing…

My child was sent here following a depressive episode with suicidal thoughts in May of 2025. The care was non existent. She had 2 brief meetings with the psychiatrist. She met with the therapist daily. Of course, no therapy on the weekends. Art therapy was coloring xeroxed sheets like at a pediatric office with markers. I stayed in a hotel the entire time to be close and able to meet with psychiatrist and therapist. Home was 3 hours away. Never happened. We had a few very short phone conversations after I left multiple messages. The psychiatrist told me that “middle school bullying is not enough to cause a kid to be suicidal.” Obviously she should not be allowed to work with adolescents! The social worker was supposed to coordinate post hospital follow ups with psychiatrist and therapist. No one could even tell me the social worker’s name or how to contact. I did this myself. The only person that was attentive to us was the business office telling me how much I owed and how to pay it. There was absolutely no family therapy session or family meeting. Discharge instructions were a printed sheet. But they made sure I signed it and paid the bill.

I had a terrible experience there, they put me on an abnormally high dose of medication that made me suffer from tardive dyskenesia, then took me off cold turkey, making me suffer neurological problems and major brain damage, their staff had no care to see what's wrong until it triggered other patients, on top of this, I had visibly seen them restrain patients incorrectly. As well as let patients self harm and do nothing, and did not do anything when others were having seizures. I went here as a young teenager and wasn't supposed to be there for as long as I stayed. Horrible service, should be sued for malpractice. edit: I honestly would give 0 stars if not for the highlight of my visit being the first week, where I had the most wonderful roommate whom I wish was still a friend in my life. I remember their deadname, as they were firced to be called it, but I don't want to talk about them because HIPAA and also this would be disrespectful, this was five years ago and only 2 of my roomates were good, I hope roomate 1 got the help he needed. If he's reading this, care about you man. And also, I was also forced to go by my deadname, horrendous.
