I drove two hours for this appointment because there are no rheumatologists in my area who accept my insurance. The receptionist and nursing staff were friendly, which I appreciated.
However, I left the appointment without answers and still back at square one. The physician seemed focused only on ruling out lupus or Sjögren’s, rather than considering other autoimmune conditions that could explain my symptoms, even after explaining family history of MS and other autoimmune disorders. I was also told that my symptoms are typically seen only in older patients, and because I didn’t fit the criteria for lupus, the evaluation fell short.
While I did appreciate that she ordered an extensive panel of blood tests, one result came back significantly abnormal — and I was never contacted about it. I only discovered the result because I checked it myself via mychart. Thankfully, my primary care provider is now repeating the panel and helping me get the follow-up I need.
Overall, I feel as though since I didn’t fit in the criteria for ONE specific disorder that the rest of communication fell short. If you’re simply trying to establish care, this office could be useful but if you’re actively seeking answers, you may want to be prepared to advocate strongly for yourself or explore other options.

I have had some bad experiences with doctors offices and doctors. I have to say all those bad experiences were wiped clean after I went to Cone health Rheumatology. All the staff was so welcoming and kind. They made me comfortable and was so kind. The doctor I had Dr Rice was real thorough and kind. He listened to everything I said and when he talked to me I can tell he actually read my file and knew my history. He didn't judge my past and focused on the issue at hand. I left that office with a positive feeling. Knowing in my heart I was finally gonna get the help I need and been looking for. I had been feeling hopeless and thinking there was no help for me. I feel blessed by going to Dr. Rice. I am confident the he and the staff in that office is gonna help me finally with my issues that have haunted my mind and body for a long time. I would highly recommend Cone health rheumatology and Dr. Rice to anyone who is looking for real help with there related health issues. God bless anyone reading this. You found the right place.

Loved going here at first, been a patient for years. I was seen in January, and was told after my lab results came back I would be prescribed pain medicine. Its now April, no one has called to go over my labs or to follow up and prescribe the medication. I have been in uncomfortable joint pain. I even called and followed up in February, spoke with a nurse; she said they would call me back and they never did. Very disappointed, overall good place, but this situation has left a bad impression for me

I visited this place about 3 times and each time the staff was very nice and welcoming but the Doctor not so much. Each time I visited this office she couldn’t tell me anything. It was always I don’t know what to do. She put me on a medication that made me have seizures and when I told her about she was like I don’t know what else do to get your autoimmune disease under control. I felt that she was very bias and prejudice when it came to my health. I will never return to her office and I will never refer anyone there either. You can’t just treat people any kinda of way. I will be taking my reviews and complaints further.
