I want to start our by saying that the only reason this is two stars instead of one is because the nurses and front desk workers were wonderful and provided amazing service and a friendly atmosphere. My psychiatrist Dr. Arfeen on the other hand was fairly rude.
I saw Dr. Arfeen for about a year and never once did I feel like he listened to what I said. It was almost like he had preconceived notions of what kind of patient I was and would not under any circumstances be swayed from those ideas. There were multiple medications I had requested to be on that had worked for me in the past that he would not prescribe because he believes young people will abuse them.
There was one appointment where he told me four medications were a lot for someone my age.
I lost my job because of Covid and had a bad few months of mental health which resulted in me not taking my meds. It was a really dark time for me. I've been trying to claw my way out of it and hoped getting back on my meds would help me, specifically the adhd medicine I had been taking. Dr. Arfeen told me he would not prescribe that medicine to me any more because without a job to go to he didnt think there was a point in giving them to me. "I don't see a point you arent in school and you don't have a job," those were his exact words. I am still livid at that. Not having a job does not mean I don't deserve the tools to help me function properly. I explained I needed the medicine for my daily life and how it would help me focus to apply for a job. He did not care. I can't describe how humiliated I felt and how I still feel. I dont even remember how the rest of that meeting went, when it was over all I could do was cry. To have been in such a dark headspace as I was and to finally taken the steps I needed to get better only to be told that there was no point, I have no words. It has been a few weeks and the shame I felt at his words has not left me.
I am writing this massively long review that most likely no one will read because I saw others posting similar stories about Dr. Arfeen. Maybe one day he'll get to read this. If he does I don't want him to feel attacked I just want him to truly listen. I know I wasn't a perfect patient, but he needs to examine the way he views his patients and why. Also he needs to read up on ADHD and how it affects daily life and why some would need it even if they aren't employed.

After months of waiting I had my initial appointment with Dr Syed T. Afreen. I was a bit disgusted after I left. After doing the a-typical questions that are usually asked during initial appointments with a new psychiatrist, he then went on to ask about hospitalizations and medications and so forth. I have had back-to-back hospitalizations for the past 3 years, but all of it was situational ( I really was just put on the wrong medication ). Instead of asking what happened he pretty much went on to the assumption that it was solely because I was not taking my medication. My former psychiatrist had taken me off a medication called Prolixin that's what really started my problems 3 years ago, but it was mainly because of the side effects not because I had just stopped taking it. What I failed to mention is I'm prescribed Geodon. He then went on to asking me do I believe in taking anti-psychotics, I told him no and that I believed that they should solely be used for people who have schizophrenia. He then got upset stopped actually trying to hear me out and was rather belittling. I took it personal and went on to tell him that you don't me or the situation. ( Which I was trying to explain to him, but he had stopped hearing me out at that point ) He then went on to say I know everything about you right here! ( In reference to my medical records via Cone Health's MyChart ). He then offered to refer me to another psychiatrist, I told him no and then went on to tell him he needs to learn how to be a better human ( Which he very much does ) I am not 100 percent against taking medication ( I also take a mood stabilizer ) What I am against is judging someone based off of medical records and false information. You should also learn how to be a bit more professional and less insensitive. Furthermore he seems like a psychiatrist who doesn't care to listen to his actual patient and will just put you on a medication and send you on your way. I've always had mixed experiences with foreigners in the mental health field and all of this was rather unnecessary. Learn how to show compassion and empathy and listen especially if this is a patient's initial appointment with you!

The operator/receptionist is very rude!w She wouldn't let me finish speaking to know why I was calling, she just sent me over to another automated response. First impressions are everything, especially dealing with mental health... Also, I have been trying to set an appt for an hour, online your office closes at 5pm, but when calling I get an automated response that the office is closed.
