If you care for yourself or your loved ones, Please go to Carolina Behavioral Care, UNC or Duke. I’ve had not great, and incompetent experiences from Cone urgent care and even tried a PCP with Cone. After some years and not having much of a choice, I tried Cone health for Psychiatry. Absolutely awful experience, they are in the stone ages, they can barely use their email. They have MyChart but don’t know how to use it or refuse to use it. Their secretary even told me they’ve been told not to use it in some instances because it’s too confusing or doesn’t work right, which that should have been the red flag on my first visit. I’ve had them update their records every visit because the changes were never made in the first place. Not just like family records. Medications that I had never even taken or had been prescribed years ago. It’s still in my chart after a couple visits. Seems like that’s something they need to fix.
FYI, they have a strict policy that you must be a patient for minimum 6 months to get them to fill out any FMLA or Short Term Disability paperwork. It took them a week of me calling for them to figure out the short term disability paperwork isn’t for them to file for S-T-D or FMLA. Literally if they just, I don’t know, read the document, saying “request for medical records” it would have avoided a headache for everyone. Even after my Father reached out to a VP for help. All we got was legal Jargon… they have zero care or compassion, or accurate record keeping.
Here is the kicker! Living in the area, I know People who work for Cone and they won’t even go to Cone or let their loved ones go! How sad is that! Heck the caregiver I started seeing is leaving… they didn’t even have to say why. I already knew.
So please, I again urge you to go somewhere else if you are able to. I promise whatever inconvenience you have somewhere else will be a walk in the park in comparison to Cone Health’s incompetence. I wouldn’t trust them to treat me for the common cold at this point.

I have had 3 referrals sent to these people at this point and still do not have an appointment. The first they received and said I couldn’t be accepted with out of state insurance, even though I stated that I work and live in North Carolina and could provide proof of that. The second they apparently never received. This one took about 2 months to figure out because I called roughly 15 times to get the status of my referral with no answer. I left 4 detailed messages with the referral coordinator and never got a call back. I got super lucky one day and caught her when she was in the office I guess, because she called and told me they never got it. I am currently waiting on the third referral. I got it sent earlier last week but still have not heard anything, so my hopes aren’t high.

I tried to get an appointment without going through my doctor, but was told I had to have a referral (despite my insurance not requiring one). I waved the white flag and jumped through the hoops and and was referred to Alamance Regional by my primary care doctor. After a month of not hearing from them I called to follow up and try to secure and appointment. It's been another month and they still haven't reached out to me. They have never once answered the phone when I've called and I'm ready to go out of network because it's so ridiculous.

I tried for a month to get a cyst removed from my wrist without any luck. They had every doctor that I have seen for the last two month give permission for the surgery. Why did I need a shrink, cardiologist, family doctor and other doctors. It is a simple operation.
