My friends mother is currently being served by this compsny but in a very poor manor. I was so sad when I saw the video of an employee serving her mom. No compassion what so ever. They don't wipe her face or brush her teeth and who knows what else. She is just an object to them. This woman was once a contributing member of our society. She is a mother, a sister,, a grandma. Then I watched their employee yell at the daughter in front of the mom...thinking she can't hear. This company refuses to fire this unkind person who clearly can not stand to care for a woman in the last moments of her life.

My Mother is living at the Willows of Arbor Lakes for two years. She is part of a cluster of women that does everything together. From eating, crafts, singing, enjoying coffee time or simply sitting together chatting. I know when arriving where she will be-not in her apartment! Mom has a few health issues and limitations, and the staff is very mindful and supportive of her needs. I can also say working with the administrative staff and the nursing staff has been easy and stress free (i.e., working with the LTC insurance company can be a challenge).
As her son and POA, I need to put some context around two negative reviews on this page. One is from my cousin Lori Treichel and the other from my brother's partner, Leslie Ottjes. The reviews were written with little to no interaction with the staff at The Willows of Arbor Lakes. Lori has never been in the facility and Les and Bob visit once a year for a couple of days spending a few hours with Mom.
Everyone has a right to their opinion. When hearsay and misinformation is used to make false accusations, I will always call it out. Mom is not locked in her apartment. She can leave her apartment at any time and has a key to get back into the apartment. All residents are kept safe by keeping building entrance doors locked and secured. Mom can no longer safely cook or bake due to her advancement with Alzheimer's. This is why her stove/oven is turned off. If family would like to cook/bake, we simply make a request to the staff to have it turned on. I would give anything to smell Mom's cinnamon rolls and buns baking!
Mom is getting the best care at The Willows of Arbor Lakes! My apologies to The Willows of Arbor Lakes Staff as they are caught in the middle of family drama being played out in a business review in a public forum.

Looking at the Willows at Arbor Lake from the outside, it looks like a wonderful facility. It is new, the lobby is beautiful, and the grounds are well kept. But after being with my mother for a couple of days, looks can be deceiving.
This facility is considered memory care. While there, I did not see anything that would stimulate a person’s mind. I was there on a weekend so perhaps the activity coordinator was not there. The most that the staff do is bring them to the common area and have them watch CNN or a Netflix movie.
My mom has had a leg amputated and has not mastered walking and transferring without assistance. While I was there, she indicated she needed assistance with going to the bathroom. She pressed her button for assistance, but 15 minutes later there was not anyone coming to assist her. I walked the long hallway to the area where the staff was and requested that they come to assist.
As this is a memory care unit, the stove in her room is disconnected. When I was there, I did not see any of the staff coming into her room to make sure that she got to the dining room. It is a long hallway from her room that is carpeted which she is unable to wheel herself without difficulty.
I know that it is difficult to hire staff, but I was expecting more of the facility.

I have a family member in this facility, been there for 2-3 years give or take. I want to say from the start.. I know it’s been a struggle for facility’s to get/retain good help. In some cases… it’s partly the person in charge of the family member that’s in the facility to take responsibility and make sure the elderly person in the facility is being taken care of, if a place like this isn’t RIGHT then maybe they should find a place that fits and suits this family member better so the best care can be given for the person and their situation. A few things: Why would a resident be locked in their room? Facility wasn’t in lock down as out of town family was able to get into the facility and the noticed on the door said there was active Covid out breaks but visitation wasn’t limited, masked were required.
Why would a resident be told they had to use the bathroom alone (this person has a wheelchair and artificial leg) Why wouldn’t the person that was in the room helping answer the phone when it rang.. instead said “no we can’t answer it. This facility isn’t for anyone who needs as much help as my relative .. so think long and hard before putting a family member here it’s not for every person’s situation.
