Did not have good experience. I was in severe pain when I went in, pain and infection were not addressed. Dentist seemed inexperienced and unprofessional. Definitely no sense of urgency for my situation. Ended up in ER with severe headaches and teeth pain, ruled out brain Abcess. 4 days later, I have to go to Emergency Dental in Eagan, for continued pain and infection. I feel at the very least I should have been given antibiotics. Will never go back to this place. Not the place for dental emergencies. Waste of time and money.

Disappointing Experience – Lack of Transparency and Accountability in Poor Handling of Young Child’s Dental Visit
I brought my 3.5-year-old in for a very specific concern: visible decay on his two top front teeth. When I booked the appointment, I clearly explained why we were coming in. It was even noted in their records. Yet after the exam, the doctor (who is also the owner) told me they don’t treat decay on those specific teeth in children this young.
This was incredibly frustrating. If that’s their policy, I should have been informed before the appointment—not after I’d arranged childcare for my other children, brought my son in, and paid for a visit that was ultimately unhelpful. Had I known, I would’ve gone straight to a pediatric dentist and saved time, money, and stress. Now I will have to pay again for an exam as dentist offices don’t transfer exams. What was even more confusing, is that I had to get a pediatric referral for my 1.5 year old for an injury at the same time I made the appointment for my 3.5 year old meaning we were already discussing pediatric dentistry and what they do and do not treat.
When I spoke with the office manager, I received a series of shifting, contradictory explanations:
* First, she claimed they maybe they didn’t know why we were coming in (despite the notes that were checked after). The notes themselves were not thorough or true to my clear concerns.
* Then she suggested it might have been due to my child’s temperament—though he was calm, cooperative, and sat still the entire time (I even have videos because I was so proud of him).
* Finally, after consulting the Dr who is also the owner, she said he simply doesn’t treat decay in those teeth in 3.5-year-olds—which raises the question of why they accepted the appointment in the first place.
While they did offer a vague apology “for any potential miscommunication” and referred us elsewhere, it felt like a deflection of responsibility rather than a genuine effort to acknowledge or resolve the issue. There was no accountability, no meaningful apology, and no attempt to make things right beyond the bare minimum.
This experience was deeply disappointing. We were hoping to find a trusted holistic dental office for our entire family—but this showed a lack of transparency, integrity, and patient care. I would not recommend this practice, especially for families with young children. Ask very specific questions upfront—because they won’t volunteer the information you need. We won’t be back.

I will recommend Tooth By the Lake and Dr. Seaverson to everybody! The entire office and staff makes you feel comfortable... in a Dental office, this is huge to me. I was greeted by smiling, welcoming staff, looked at the selection of holistic healing books-huge plus in my book! Dr. Seaverson spent time with me, explaining things, why things happen and how to change it naturally without the intervention of drugs, chemicals, and costly procedure. You can feel that they really care about you as a patient, not an incoming insurance check.
After having countless Dentists push prescription drugs on me and tell me that my only option was a dangerous procedure and it was "safe" I am so relieved after coming to Tooth By the Lake and actually learning what to do PROACTIVELY.
Patient education and welcoming staff are enough to makes somebody want to check them out, but they offer so much more.
