I was a client at Northland Recovery around the year 2015. My treatment plan included moving in to a halfway house settimg. I chose Hopehouse and put in a request. I was aproved but my group counselor told me i was denied at Hopehouse and that i would attend Northland Recovery's extended treatment at the same facility. When i asked why i was denied at hopehouse she said not to worry why because i can just use their facility. I kept insisting to know why i was denied and that i was going to call Hopehouse and ask. My case worker than quickly said because of a previous parole violation. When I asked for the date of the violation the date she gave me was during my prison sentence so it was impossible. When i called Hopehouse i was assured that my request was not denied at all and they had no idea what my couselor was referimg to. My counselor flat out made all that up just to try and keep my insurance payment for their program. No maybes about it, i didn't misunderstand my counselor, she just flat out lied. Being lied to was not just unprofessional, worst of all it completely shattered any trust i had in the facility as a whole.

The food is great but other than that I would not recommend this place for anyone they treat the clients like children. I asked for the song "Roman's Revenge", its lyrics printed off and they redacted part of it. Also the counselor John Miller went ballistic because I got a cup of coffee from the hallway that is not for clients but for staff but the counselor Tom serves to us during group. And also, John Miller kicked me out of group for asking to see another client's program schedule, he thought I was disrupting. If you were court ordered there like me and you're forced to deal with challenging behaviors exhibited by certain staffs and can't leave it makes you feel powerless. They have cable TV but only allow us to watch the news at 9 and sports games if you put in a written request that has to be approved by your counselor. CDT Mary-Ann said it was okay to hang out in door ways to visit other clients but CDT Eli said it wasn't. I dunno... it's just wack.
