They hire inexperienced untrustworthy “caregivers” so they can pay them minimum wage then pocket the rest of the money. Owners are horrible, chad and josh are greedy and mean hearted people. Yes, 2nd Family of Central Maryland specializes in caring for people with dementia and supporting families throughout the progression of this life-altering condition.
How much coverage will my policy provide?
Each policy is different and crafted based on many factors, including age, health, and monthly expense. Your insurance provider will have more details about the exact provisions of your policy.
What services will my policy cover?
The vast majority of long-term care insurance policies cover all non-medical services provided in the home. Having said that, most policies also have a minimum requirement that you need assistance with at least 2 ADLs (activities of daily living) during each visit. Each policy is different, and we can assist you in determining exactly what your policy covers.
I have a long term care insurance policy. What happens if I need more care?
In the event that your policy will not provide sufficient coverage, you can pay the difference out of pocket. You are certainly not limited to only receive the amount of care that the insurance agency approves, but you will be responsible for covering the difference in cost.
What is included in Personal Care?
Most clients receive some combination of assistance with bathing, grooming, dressing, and/or personal hygiene care (including assistance with the restroom). We customize our care plan to fit the unique needs of each client.
How do I know which of these activities my loved one needs?
One of our lovely nurses will provide you with a comprehensive care plan which will include a list of recommended services.
Does the number of services provided affect my bill?
Not at all! We are paid by the hour, not by the service performed. We will provide as much or as little as you need or want.
My loved one is resistant to personal care assistance. Can you help with that?
We are happy to provide guidance, education, and recommendations. However, we feel it is important for decisions related to starting care to be made by the client and his/her family.
Does my health plan cover 2nd Family In-Home Care?
That depends on your carrier and your plan. We work with ANY insurance provider who offers a home care benefit as part of a Long Term Care Insurance policy. We also have a resource page to show you how you can file a claim with several major Long Term Care Insurance providers or with the VA Community Care program.
What services does 2nd Family provide?
2nd Family provides numerous services to assist families; such as personal care, hygiene help, medication reminders, Alzheimer’s and dementia options, companionship, nutrition and wellness services, light housekeeping, and transportation. The Grandma Guarantee ® is how we properly vet all potential 2nd Family caregivers. In each interview, we ask ourselves “Would I trust this person to care for my Grandma one-on-one in her home?”

What are ADLs?
Activities of daily living or self-care activities. 2nd Family provides assistance with these important tasks, such as mobility, feeding, dressing, bathing, toileting, nail and hair care, and dental hygiene. We ensure your loved one is being cared for each and every visit.
