*Dr. Gilotra and Dr. Karri are the only reason my rating for this practice is not one star.*
I went to UMFP hoping to get clarity and support after dealing with persistent shoulder and back pain from a car accident nearly three years ago. I saw multiple doctors across multiple appointments, including Dr. Gilotra and Dr. Karri. Both were thorough and supportive, clearly documenting that my condition would likely be chronic. They were upfront, clear, and helped me understand what to expect long-term.
Unfortunately, my final appointment with Dr. Idris Amin was a completely different experience. I made it clear that I needed a formal letter outlining the ongoing nature of my shoulder pain to support my legal case (Provided him a copy of the one from Mercy‘s Spine Center as an example). Instead of following the lead of his two colleagues who both stated that my injuries were likely chronic, he refused to echo that in writing. He noted in my chart that I should continue therapy, but his letter lacked any mention of the seriousness of my ongoing condition. Both his and his NP’s tone was dismissive, and I got the sense that they didn’t want to put anything in writing that might require him to take a position.
That lack of documentation directly hurt me during settlement negotiations. My legal team couldn’t make a strong case for the long-term impact of my shoulder injury because Dr. Amin failed to put in writing what every other provider acknowledged.
I spent a lot of time, money, and energy trying to get this evaluated properly. If you’re trying to get a thorough, supportive medical evaluation with a doctor who understands the legal side of injury cases, I would not recommend Dr. Amin. Dr. Gilotra and Dr. Karri were helpful, but unfortunately one weak link can undo months of work.

My daughter broke her thumb and needed surgery. They were able to get her in for an appointment next day, and she had surgery two days later. The facility was very clean and had a lot of windows which made it feel way nicer with all the natural light!

The check in was fine but the wait time was ridiculous. I got there at 2:45pm and wasn't called back until like 3:30pm and then sat in exam room until 4:25pm when the doctor actually came in. But besides that and the two ignorant women I encountered, my first time visiting was awful

Our BCF baby has been seen by Dr. Hummira Abawi, since he was three weeks old. Every single member of the staff has treated us with such an incredible level of care. Dr. Abawi goes above and beyond, making herself available to us at all hours. She handled any complications we had immediately, and answered any questions we had so compassionately. As first time parents, with no advance warning that our son would be born with BCF, this meant so much. Casting Kraig is wonderful- his calm manner put our son at ease immediately. He is meticulous and very gentle. He keeps the casting room incredibly organized and clean too. The nurses, front desk women, and Jamie too, all made us feel like we were in the right place. Everyone is so patient and kind, when it is obvious the staff deals with an incredibly high volume of patients daily. Thank you all!
ETA. My son was seen by his pediatrician for his 9 month check-up today. His pediatrician was amazed at the range of motion in his feet and said it was even better than the average baby. He told us to thank our surgeon, and we did! We cannot say enough good things about Dr. Abawi and her team.
