Have tried to get through many times to a live person to speak about my bill and was unsuccessful. Was on hold for over 30 min. I then received a phone call this morning at 1150 AM and was put on hold when they called me!!!! Then I tried calling back to see why they called and the system hung up on me WHAT A JOKE!!!! Trying to pay a bill is impossible!!!!

My experience at the University of Maryland Medical Center was definitely a five out of five experience. I would like to recognize some of the staff that were involved in my care that made it possible for me to have the best surgery possible and a safe recovery. My procedure was a laminectomy (back surgery) with a fusion and spinal tumor removal. My orthopedic surgeon was Doctor Steven Ludwig and my neurosurgeon Dr. Charles Sansur. Having these accomplished surgeons was just my beginning to a journey through a procedure that was quite frightening to me. The bottom line to this review is that I would not have had this surgery done any place else. Now I'd like to include some details. From pre-operative to post-operative I was cared for by some amazing individuals. I myself have been a healthcare provider for 40 years working in all kinds of settings from very very small to very very big. So I guess you'd say I kind of know the business. Besides having my spinal tumor and severe scoliosis, I have associated medical conditions which to me made this procedure more complicated. I was very relieved to be told by Dr. Sensor that he was able to successfully remove the tumor completely and by Dr Ludwig that the surgery was a complete success. It was a privilege to have these highly regarded and respected surgeons do my procedure. But then there are many other people that I would like to recognize at the Medical Center. My time in the recovery unit was the most difficult. But when I left the recovery unit, I was transferred to trauma 6 North where I received the best quality of patient-centered care I could receive. I can't mention everyone that was involved in my care, but I can say that it involved all roles from housekeeping to physical therapy to dietary to nursing, to the Physicians of each clinical team, Ortho surgery and neurosurgery, not to exclude Shak, an exercise technician. As a whole the staff were conscientious, compassionate, efficient, and totally patient-centered. I will name the following people that made my recovery what it was. Ally Quinn, RN, Alyssa Coates, RN, Gretchen Bracey, PCT, Esther Blankson, PCT, Rita Braswell,] PCT, Betty, EVA, Leilani, food services, Scott, RN, Recovery, Niiki MaHoney , physical therapist, Rosie, RN, Nicole, PCT and last but certainly not least Shak, exercise technician. I apologize to those whose last names I don't know. This is a team that it takes with everyone participating at their best, to assure the best and safest episode of hospital care. I sincerely thank all of you for giving me a great start to my recovery at The University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, MD.
