I recently moved here from Florida and was lucky to find such a great dentist and team! Thanks to my significant other for recommending Dr. Medeiros. Dr. Medeiros did an amazing job even with the Novocain injections, he was very gentle, and I didn’t feel any pain at all. I really appreciate how kind and professional everyone is, especially Crystal, she’s such a sweetheart. Thank you for everything! I’m so happy to have found my new dentist.

Always good experience at True Dental, I had an emergency that I walked in as they were starting to close down, the left side of my face was obviously visibly swollen due to an infection from clenching and causing an infection.
I said I’d come back the next day, they were so kind an empathetic made me feel comfortable and examined me even though they were closing and made me an appointment after I had taken an antibiotic because it was too swollen to do anything more than X-rays..
The next visit Dr Medeiros spoke to me about my options or what honestly options would not be healthy for me. He took care of it that day.
Highly recommend True Dental All the staff there are amazing!!
Flossing is indeed crucial for oral health. While brushing cleans the visible surfaces of teeth, flossing reaches the spaces between teeth and below the gumline that brushes can't access. Regular flossing helps prevent cavities, gingivitis, and gum disease by removing plaque and food particles from these hard-to-reach areas.
Why do I need a dental exam?
Annual dental exams are essential for maintaining optimal oral health. During these exams, your dentist will review x-rays, conduct a thorough examination of your teeth and surrounding tissues, and perform an oral cancer screening. These comprehensive check-ups allow for early detection of potential issues, helping to prevent more serious problems from developing.
Why do i need to take updated x-rays?
Updated x-rays are vital diagnostic tools in dentistry. They allow us to detect cavities and other dental issues that may not be visible during a visual examination. Early detection through x-rays often leads to smaller fillings and healthier teeth overall. Additionally, x-rays can reveal dental infections below the gum line, helping to prevent discomfort and more severe complications in the future.
Should i allow the hygienist to give my child a fluoride varnish?
Fluoride varnish is an effective preventive measure against cavities, particularly for children. It works by strengthening the enamel, which is the protective outer layer of teeth. By reinforcing this barrier, fluoride varnish significantly reduces the risk of tooth decay, contributing to better long-term oral health for your child.
At what age can i bring my child in to see a dentist?
The american academy of pediatric dentistry recommends that children have their first dental visit when their first tooth appears or by their first birthday. These early visits are typically brief, focusing on ensuring your child's teeth are developing properly and introducing them to the dental environment. Starting dental visits early helps establish good oral health habits and can prevent future dental anxiety.
What is the best type of toothbrush to use?
Research consistently shows that electric toothbrushes provide a more thorough cleaning compared to manual brushes. Many electric models offer helpful features such as built-in timers to ensure you brush for the recommended two minutes, pressure sensors to prevent aggressive brushing that can lead to gum recession, and other functions designed to enhance your oral care routine.
How often should i come into the office for regular checkups?
We generally recommend two dental cleanings per year for most patients. One of these visits should include x-rays and a comprehensive dental exam. However, patients with periodontal disease or other risk factors may require more frequent visits. Your dentist will advise on the best schedule for your individual needs.
Does my diet affect my teeth?
Your diet significantly impacts your oral health. Both the types of food you consume and your eating habits play a role. Foods and drinks high in sugar, such as sodas, sports drinks, and candy, as well as starchy snacks like chips and crackers, can increase your risk of cavities. Frequent snacking throughout the day can also be detrimental, as it doesn't allow your teeth sufficient time to recover between acid attacks, potentially leading to more cavities.
What should i do in case of a dental emergency?
In the event of a dental emergency, we advise you to contact our office immediately. We strive to accommodate urgent cases such as pain, swelling, or broken teeth as quickly as possible. However, if you experience severe swelling that affects your breathing or swallowing, please seek immediate medical attention at an emergency room, as intravenous antibiotics may be necessary.
What kind of toothpaste should i be using?
The ideal toothpaste depends on your specific dental needs. For those with cold sensitivity, toothpastes like sensodyne can provide relief. Products such as parodontax focus on improving gum health and combating gingivitis. Whitening toothpastes are also available for those seeking a brighter smile. For patients at higher risk of cavities, we offer prescription toothpastes in our office. Your dentist can recommend the most suitable option based on your oral health requirements.
Why is flossing important for my oral health?
Flossing cleans between teeth and below the gumline where brushing can't reach, preventing cavities, gingivitis, and gum disease.
