At St. Tammany Health System, we’ve been caring for our Northshore neighbors since our founding in December 1954 as St. Tammany Parish Hospital. A lot has changed in that time, and we’re proud of the technologically advanced regional medical center we’ve grown to become.

Never had an experience like this in my entire life. The hospital is overall horrible, from the moment you check in. New staffing is immediately needed, from the doctors all the way down to the nurses. I made it there at 12:00p.m, didn’t leave until 8:30-9p.m. that night. I went in for sharp pains going through my head that instantly makes me shake really bad as if I’m having a seizure. It also makes my mouth twist to the side, and immediately makes me go out. Keep in mind, I also can’t walk. Through all this, I can still hear. I never know when the episodes will occur nor how long will it last. As I was out, I could hear some of them saying, “I was faking”, while others stated I wasn’t. The doctor I seen at the time was a man (very nice) but of course, shift changes occur… The next doctor that came in was a lady, she didn’t see me at all. She came in saying the most horrible things to me. Things like “Anybody can do what you are doing” also saying that I was mental, basically saying nothing that was going on with me was true because I’m controlling all of what’s going on with me in my head. I can’t control none of this. I work everyday. Do you honestly think I want to fake something to miss out on money?? I went from being normal to handicap within 3 weeks. This doctor only read what was going on to come to a conclusion that I was faking. This hospital seen several people before me, basically saying that my condition wasn’t important enough. The whole experience was diabolical.

They acted as though they were caring for my mother when I was there. Saying they put orders in to do this or that, but when I check back in a couple days, then it wasn’t done like she had a bladder infection for two days and nobody even did a clean catch. They wait until she’s complaining in pain to try to do something and then it’s the blank game will this nurse this this nurse that and oh we messaged the doctor. Meanwhile, my mother, the patient remains in pain. I give this hospital three stars on a good day.

ICU is great. If you are able to get into a hospital room from the ER, you are very fortunate. My husband arrived at the ER; blood count was 7, and was in the ER for more than 12 hours. The ER staff was helpful and polite but not the same as if in a room. Three weeks ago he was in ICU for 3 days with a blood count of 5.0. He received 7 units of blood and when discharged his BC was 10. We are told normal is 14-17. Last night ER gave him 2 units of blood, refused to call Gastrointestinal doctor, and told him there was no leakage. He already had an appointment scheduled for tomorrow for iron infusion. I was told that he would be admitted for blood infusions but after 22 hours in ER, we were told they had no rooms available. If true, St Tammany really needs to enlarge its facility. St. Tammany serves an extremely large area. People from Mississippi. Hammond, Robert, Folsum, Slidell, Mandeville, Covington, Madisonville, and LaComb, even the Siuth Shore use this medical facility. If his BC falls low again within 2 -3 weeks, I will hold St Tammany Hispital responsible. After being told that he was going to be released when the doctor could see him, and we waited 2 hours, the doctor still had not made an appearance. My husband informed the ER thst if they were not going to admit him, he was leaving and he did . I really believe there should be at least 2 doctors in the ER. ICU VERY GOOD, 3rd FLOOR NURSES Station is very good, but ER lacks severely. If his BC drops very low again St Tammany will be hearing from me again because they did not think it was worth checking into further. The 2 star rating is strictly for the E R and I am being "generous".
