I know sometimes appointments run over because the doctor is giving extra care to another patient—or even to you. But if your appointment is at 9:50, please try to be there by 9:30 just in case they can work you in early. I love coming to Dr. Daniels. I travel from Lexington, and today I was 2 minutes late. My appointment was at 8:50, and I arrived at 9:02. They weren’t able to see me, and honestly—I respect that. It was my responsibility to be here on time. I thought I had enough time to get from Lexington to Louisville, but I didn’t. So please understand: Dr. Daniels is an amazing doctor who truly values her schedule. And even when she runs a little behind, it’s only because she’s giving someone the time and care they need. We don’t have many African-American dermatologists who are dedicated to serving African-American women and men the way she is. Please respect that, appreciate her, and honor the time she gives all of us. I give Dr. Daniels five stars—and if I could give her ten, I absolutely would. I also want to add that even though I arrived 2 minutes past the 10-minute grace period, the staff was still kind enough to see me. I had just driven in from Lexington, and after sitting for a moment to get myself together, they showed so much understanding and patience. I truly appreciate their kindness, their professionalism, and the way they go above and beyond for their patients. It meant a lot to me, and I am very grateful.

What should I expect during my cosmetic consultation?
Your first visit begins with a consultation with your board-certified and fellowship-trained cosmetic dermatologist. Prior to care, we will get your health history and perform a clinical evaluation of the skin to determine which treatment options are the best fit. We will customize both a treatment plan and a skin care regimen if desired. Important pre- and post-treatment instructions will also be provided to accompany most treatments.

What is the difference between a deductible, copay and coinsurance?
All three are medical charges you must pay out of your own pocket, even if you have insurance. Deductibles are a specific amount you must accumulate and pay each year of covered health services before benefits are provided by your carrier. Plans may also have separate individual and family deductibles and/or deductibles for separate services. Copayments are a set fee the member pays to providers at the time services are provided. Copays are applied to office visits, emergency room visits, hospital admissions, etc. Coinsurance is a form of cost sharing. After your deductible has been met, plan will begin paying a percentage of your bills. The remaining amount, known as co-insurance, is the portion due by the patient.
