Beacon Health System currently has visitor restrictions in place for our hospitals and outpatient centers to help minimize the risk of COVID-19 (coronavirus) to our patients. Get the most up-to-date restrictions on our website. Beacon Health System provides care to more than 4,000 patients each day in northern Indiana and southern Michigan. As a not-for-profit, community-governed health system, we target an annual operating income of 4% from our operations. This operating income balances the healthcare needs of the community with the ability to reinvest in the facilities, equipment and talented clinical providers. The accumulated earnings are managed through an investment committee of our volunteer Board and guided by an investment policy which the committee approves and monitors. This is done to obtain financial returns that are then directed back into the organization and community to improve the overall health of the communities we serve and to ensure long-term viability of healthcare for the region.
I went to Beacon Memorial on January 1st and was barely able to breathe. Diagnosed with RSV, laryngneal strider, COPD exacerbation, Asthma and broncial difficulties. My breathing was so bad they had to give me epinephrine for me to breath right for a couple days. Followed by a great respiratory treatment plan. They kept me until today the 6th. I had the best care I have ever had.In a hospital. I was sincerely scared that I was going to die. The staff was extremely comforting, attentive, professional, compassionate, efficient, ethical, wise, kind, fun and nurturing. The food was great as well. Excellent care!

AVOID at all costs!!!! Billing is an absolute nightmare. They failed to collect my address off my license (or any other PII) when I was seen for emergency service in September, despite being provided both that and my insurance card. Because they did not collect my info (by either asking me or by copying it from my ID) they were unable to send a bill for the balance due after insurance coverage. I never received a bill so couldn’t pay it. I contacted them the first week of December to followup as I’d seen the statement of benefits from my insurance but never received an actual bill and was told my account had been sent to collections 12/1. I call collections to try to pay the pill, they say they do not have my account and say to try again in 7-10 days. I try again 12/30 but they still do not have it because Beacon didn’t provide them with a complete account (they couldn’t look it up by address, SS, phone number - nothing, because Beacon didn’t provide them that info). I tried calling Beacon for the second time and received TERRIBLE customer service where the woman kept saying “you’re responsible for paying your bill” when I explained that is literally what I’ve been trying to do all month. I again left a message for the supervisor but didn’t hear back last time so I’m not optimistic. I’ve never had to work so hard to pay a bill in my life. 0/10.

Very unprofessional was told by scheduling i had a dr appointment in Marshall in their office when arrived they said I was in wrong place needed be in Battle Creek I asked if I should drive over can you call them and help me out the receptionist said no you'll have to figure it out yourself here's the address and phone number tried calling 15 times while drive over was here at 9:50 explained what happened .. after several minutes the schedule came up and said we can still see you you'll just have to wait not there are 4 or so patients in front of you. This was their mistake and I'm being punished for it.

Service at the location was great when it was borgess. 4 months after I was seen I still haven’t been billed. They say they’re still in the process. Coming up on year end where my FSA is about to expire and I can’t pay the bill. They also make you wait for 5 minutes before an operator directs you to the department you’re calling for then another 5-10 minutes in an automated system that asks you if you need to speak with a person 3 desperate times and I get forwarded to a call center with someone who can’t speak English. I understand their limitations as a person but blame the hospital for hiring these people. Now someone in the Middle East needs my SOC and all my personal info in order for me to pay a bill? How is that secure?

I like my Dr. and hope I can keep her. However Beacon health is a disaster. Billing is a disaster. If you ask a question about anything other than what you're scheduled for, you will get a separate bill for outpatient services. They will do everything to make sure you pay more than you need to. Run away from Beacon health
