I am currently a patient at 219 Health Network in Cedar Lake. Up until today, I have been extremely happy with that office for the following reasons:
1. Ease of appointments - it is not difficult to get in to see someone
2. My Chart - it is easy to communicate and sign up for appointments through My Chart
3. Speaks multiple languages - many of the staff there speak multiple languages which has been beneficial when I brought Ukrainians here on the U4U visa and they needed a doctor for basic care.
However, I recently went in for my annual wellness check up (as in last week). I was under the impression that this would also allow me to get refills for my prescriptions for the year. I was NEVER advised that I would have to make a separate appointment just to do refills. This is unethical - this is just another way for your organization to get money out of patients. I have been with Powers Health (219 is an affliate) and had moved from my NP in St John to 219 Health within the last 1.5 years. I have never had to do this with my prior NP or this current NP until now. Again, there is no need for it. I was already in last week, she looked me over, gave me a full exam AND asked and confirmed about my medications. Why would she ask about my medications AND NOT INFORM ME THAT I WOULD NEED TO MAKE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT JUST FOR REFILLS? That is completely unethical and there is no reason for it.
I am not sure if this is just the 219 Health Network or a new policy of Power's Health; however, in a time when people are struggling with health costs as it is, this decision solely benefits the company and does nothing for the patient.
