My child only stayed two days so my review will mostly focus on the sketchy intake process and lack of professional communication. My complaint here is mostly with the intake process. I was told the program was 6 days, but attendance was only required for 5 days -- allowing the child to have some schedule flexibility. This was important because my child had other activities and obligations that we felt were important to continue attending. I was assured that the program was flexible for this very reason. I even took interest a less intensive virtual program because of our family's need for some flexibility but was assured that the more intensive program would be ideal and that the program was only required for 5 days. However, once insurance approved admittance and all paperwork was signed and my child was in the program, they informed me the program was not flexible and either I had to commit to all of the days or leave the program. More frustrating was the one available virtual program which I had shown interest in initially was no longer available to us as an option. A day earlier it was, but a day later they said the full program or nothing. This is essentially an insurance type of scam where once the insurance approves a more intensive program (think $$), they want that money from families and do not want families to opt for less intensive, less revenue programs. So in order to get us in the door, they told us things they had no intention of committing to with the hope that once we were in we would flex to their requirements rather than the other way around. It's fine if they have very specific requirements and of our needs are not a good fit for the program. But the time to tell us that is before we enroll (it takes a lot of time and paperwork and investment to get a child in a program). So we ended up back at square one and wasted precious time and recourses with Monte Nidro. Their unwillingness to switch us into the virtual program after our initial enrollement is about as shady as it gets. I think the intake counselor gets paid based on commission and this set-up might cause the issue we dealt with. The intake counselor's name is Briana. I don't recommend working with her. A smaller issue was that some of the therapists called me to report things my kid said at program that ended up not being accurate. I think this was to pressure us into joining the full program. I'm not sure the underlying reason, but I noticed and did not appreciate the lack of honest reporting on the part of the staff. On the positive side-- is a nice facility and there seemed to be a good program in place. Everyone at the facility was friendly and my child enjoyed the few days she spent in the program.

Amazing staff and facility! Provided a holistic approach in the care of my daughter who unfortunately has struggled immensely with her ED. Offered endless support, encouragement and guidance while maintaining firm boundaries and expectations. I am beyond grateful to see my daughter in a much better place both physically and mentally. Thank-you!

Monte Nido was a great place to work toward recovery. I loved the way that they challenged every disordered thought I had and challenged me to fully recover in all areas. I have never been held to higher standards while in treatment, while at the same time felt very cared for.
Many of the staff here are recovered and open about their recovery. Many places don’t allow staff to disclose this information but for me it was one of the most influential parts of my treatment. They even did a Q&A with recovered staff, and I felt more hope for recovery here than I ever had before.
MN Chicago doesn’t allow any of your ED to go unchallenged. They hold you accountable to behaviors even for the smallest things. This is a great place to go if you want to recover, but if you aren’t ready to take ownership over your ED and work toward recovery this might not be the right fit for you. I wouldn’t have been able to do it early on in my recovery (though many people can and did). They aren’t going to force you to do anything. You have to take the steps toward change and they will support you and help to hold you accountable to reaching your own goals.
The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was there was a lot of bullying that went on in the milieu that was allowed to continue for way to long. There could also be favoritism from the staff. Though the support I received was amazing and really helped me to stop a lot of behaviors, I often felt as if I weren’t valued as a member of my own treatment team. My voice didn’t really count, and everything was decided for me on my behalf. I had to really advocate hard for my voice to be heard, and if I hadn’t been able to do that, I think things would have looked very differently.
Overall, it was a great experience that really supported me in my recovery journey. I loved the high standards that were set for me, and the small environment that allowed all staff to get to know all the clients. My therapist was amazing with me, and the other therapists were all just as wonderful. Floor staff and nursing couldn’t have been more caring. I’m thankful for the time I got to spend at MN Chicago, and the opportunity to work toward recovery in a safe place.

most of the staff is amazing but the clinical director sarah kept changing rules leaving the patients confused and upset since that isnt what they signed up for and paid for. the changes were never good or needed. hopefully they get a new clinical director soon the place has great potential but seems to be going more downhill with the changes.

Monte Nido has changed my life in ways I never could occur. The team and culture fosters a beautiful environment which challenges and supports its clients in the best way possible. The curriculum provides a well-rounded recovery program and promotes long-term recovery rather than short term solutions. I felt seen and accepted while support and challenged during my participation in their program, and for that, I will be eternally grateful.
