I have a concerning lesion on my leg that needed biopsied. To get into derm in Springfield is a long wait with some waiting 6-9 months. You don’t even need a referral to get an appointment at Vital Skin in Decatur. I was seen within 4 weeks of my call. They were great, efficient, and compassionate. I highly recommend!!!

I first consulted them on 4/9/25 with some blimps on my face and they didn’t do any tests or scans , they just visually inspected my face bumps and prescribed some cream and pills . When I asked about the issue she blamed my age for the problem and asked me to visit for follow up after 8weeks.I paid for my consultation even before they treated me .
When I visited for follow up which was on 5/27/25, there was no improvement and she prescribed me a refill for the same cream and pills. Its been 5 months using those creams and pills yet no improvement.
Today I visited them and asked about it showing the statement , the front desk employee checked in the system and said that I already paid the the bills and she didn’t knew I was billed again . Other person took my statement inside and came back with no answer . Instead they tried to gave me a number to call and ask for the reason. It’s completely unfair to bill me for 3 mins session and have no answers for why I was billed for and asked me to call someone.
And finally they just billed me for nothing despite paying before for my consultation and the worst part it my problem is no better than earlier.

What is the difference between a deductible, copay and coinsurance?
All three are medical charges you must pay out of your own pocket, even if you have insurance. Deductibles are a specific amount you must accumulate and pay each year of covered health services before benefits are provided by your carrier. Plans may also have separate individual and family deductibles and/or deductibles for separate services. Copayments are a set fee the member pays to providers at the time services are provided. Copays are applied to office visits, emergency room visits, hospital admissions, etc. Coinsurance is a form of cost sharing. After your deductible has been met, plan will begin paying a percentage of your bills. The remaining amount, known as co-insurance, is the portion due by the patient.
