Two deaths occurred on the property within a single calendar year—months apart—and one of them was a suicide. If I had known then what I know now, I would never have sought treatment at this facility. Additionally, my experience with the men’s extended program, The Lodge, was extremely disappointing. The environment felt poorly managed and lacked the supportive, therapeutic atmosphere one would expect from a reputable treatment center. Leadership, particularly under Lewis Crane, appeared more focused on persuading clients to remain in the program than on addressing the quality of care or the condition of the facility itself. I share this review out of concern for others seeking help. There are many treatment centers that provide safe, compassionate, and professional care — unfortunately, based on my experience, Willingway did not meet that standard. I would strongly encourage anyone considering this facility to explore alternative options.

I wasn’t able to finish the program due to some issues back at home. However, I really got a lot out of this place. When I first came in, I wasn’t entirely sure that I belonged, but after being told to have an open mind, I really embraced the program and the people around me. The staff really cares about you. They are all rooting for you. Big shout out to my counselor Andre, he provided very good insight to the issues I was going through and really helped me take a personal inventory and get to the bottom and root causes of what I was going through. Another shout out to Megan, her passion and genuine love for all the patients really shows, and her arts and craft and recreation classes were always the highlight of my day. Another shout out to Dakota, the alumni coordinator for reaching out within a day after I left, checking on me to make sure I was OK and for asking if there was anything I needed. I really enjoy my time here. I was given everything I needed and there was a sense of community and fellowship that really helped me and made the days go by faster. If you really want to get sober, I highly recommend giving these guys a call and checking it out. Keep in mind that this isn’t a vacation. You aren’t going here so that you can have the greatest time in the world, you’re coming here to get help and as long as you have an open mind and the desire to be sober, this place can prepare you with all the tools necessary in order to go back out into the world and face all the challenges life throws at you. It works if you work it! Without going into too much detail, I didn’t think it was possible for me to feel joy or happiness ever again. Or at least I didn’t think they would come back this quick. I still have a lot of work to do, but I know I can do it. I’m prepared A”-nd have been giving the tools and resources to seek help or guidance. Thank you Willingway:)

This place ruined me. It abused it's patient's, and diminished your humanity. The staff behaved like prison guards. They kicked out a young woman, without her phone or any ability to contact family. Just the clothes on her back. I wouldn't trust anyone that I love to be sent here. It's a death sentence.

This was the most horrific experience of my life and left me with diagnosed PTSD. During my time in the Women’s Residence, I felt trapped and emotionally abused to the point that I went numb. I was not allowed to see my daughter for six months, and the environment was so restrictive that even basic communication with loved ones was monitored and controlled. The atmosphere was inhumane, and I witnessed situations that deeply disturbed me. In my opinion, the residence was unsafe and unhealthy for the women there. For years after leaving, I was terrified to seek help for my anxiety and PTSD out of fear of being sent back. I eventually had a nervous breakdown before finally receiving the proper support I needed. While I went there seeking sobriety, my recovery has come entirely through a 12-step program and the love and support of a genuine recovery community — not from this place. Today I have 9 years of continuous sobriety, but I am still healing from the trauma of what I went through there. For me, this residence was a place of pain and fear rather than healing. I would not recommend it to anyone seeking true recovery.

My time at Willingway was just the beginning of a new way of life for me. I am forever grateful for what I learned here about myself, my disease, and my recovery process. You saved my life, I honestly believe that. Because of this experience I have decided to change career paths and am currently going back to school for a degree in Behavioral Health, so that I may be a Substance Abuse Counselor and help someone as I was helped. Thank you for everything!
