My daughter experienced a sports related concussion that significantly impacted her balance. After not improving for several weeks we started vestibular therapy at CHOA, but her improvement was still very slow and she continued to struggle with balance and dizziness with exertion. I decided to try alternative treatments including chiropractic and acupuncture. Dr Liu evaluated my daughter and started her on Accupuncture therapy. Her balance was noticeably better after one session and markedly improved within a week. She has continued to progress over the last two weeks and has finally been cleared to return to sports after almost 12 weeks. The Accupuncture process is certainly different from traditional medicine, and can be expensive, but for us the results were well worth the cost.

I recently went to Dr. Liu for treatment. She is very nice, personable and available on call when needed. My visit with her was for Nutrition Response Testing. I was tested for negative food allergies before including gluten . Based on her evaluation she recommended herbs and supplements that caused me to have severe reaction resulting in nausea and vomiting along with hives on my hands and swelling of the mouth. I vomited for 4 hours straight along with severe abdominal cramps. I was on the supplements for less then 48 hours following only visit the prior day. I expressed during my visit prior to purchasing the supplements that I had concerns about sensitivities to some of the ingredients. I was assured that based on her testing there was no cause for concern and that to take half the dosage to be safe. Overall treatment was $400. $55 per bottle which is not abnormal for a specialty brands that sells directly to doctors. Dr. Liu did reach out to me to talk with me and described my symptoms as apart of a detox. She did return my calls and listen to me when I explained to her the adverse reaction I was having with the supplements she prescribed. When I spoke to a secondary source they indicated this sounded more as though an allergic reaction vs reaction to detox as Dr. Liu described. I guess we will never know for certain. Dr. Liu encouraged me to stop the medications and to continue in a few days and possibly try a lower dosage. I expressed I would not be continuing this treatment. I could not afford another severe reaction. I really wish that Dr. Liu would have explained some of the risk or possible side effects prior to me starting her treatment so I could have made an informed decision on rather the risk outweighed the benefits of the treatment. I missed work and had to stay in bed. She is a nice person and this has been a learning experience for me. Sometimes reading reviews is not always enough to help make an informed decision about a person’s treatment. I sincerely hope that Dr. Liu does a better job informing patience of the side effects and possible interactions with her products. More research should be done at her side to ensure she properly informs the patient of the risk. She is definitely a nice person and I hope she continues to grow and learn more in her research so that her patients can feel at ease.

Experience: Injured my lcl getting fouled during high level soccer game. Got to spend 30 mins with the Pulse pro and it was game changing! It starts off uncomfortable in the hurt area. After settling in, relaxing, and accepting it, the pain started to go away and my knee literally felt like it was regenerating with every pulse. Afterwords my entire body and energy was on a high and felt amazing, then mellows out into calmness. Dr. Liliu was extremely nice and informative about the situation.
Afterthought: You have to go into this with being comfortable with the uncomfortable. The pulse is almost like a “shock” to the damaged area but you must be relaxed and open through the process to get the full benefits of healing.
