  I donate whole blood as often as I can because I have an O- blood type. I usually go to One Blood locations. Today, I was going to be in the area, so I scheduled my appt here. I left halfway through the assessment and am currently on my way to the downtown location instead. Wilda was doing my intake and chastised me repeatedly. She refused to listen when I tried to explain to her that nurses usually have to try taking my blood pressure multiple times before getting a read and that they need to put the cuff on my forearm because the machine squeezes my upper arm so tight it's excrutiatingly painful. I'm autistic, so this can set off a domino sensory effect for me and actually spike my blood pressure as I go into a panic. She ignored my concerns, insisting "we are not allowed to do that," and put the cuff on my upper arm. As I had tried to advise her, she still didn't get a reading. When she started to lecture me, I told her I was leaving and would reschedule. It's been ½ an hour, and my arm still hurts from the cuff. If I wasn't such a committed blood donor, she could have lost me completely. I won't ever go to this location again.

  I recently visited here to donate. By the time I left, I felt like I had two new friends, the staff there was so friendly. I noticed that they had a good camaraderie with the other donors, which I'm sure is helpful for encouraging repeat donors. (I will be one of those repeat donors.) In fact, having heard about this awesome facility, I drove from Winter Park to Winter Garden to donate here. I'm glad that I did. I also noticed that one of the "regulars" brought them roses when he arrived. There's something truly special about this place.

  I have donated at this new Winter Garden donor center 3 times since it opened this year and have had fantastic experiences each time. It is so nice to have a donor center less than 2 miles from my home. As a 44-year, 20+ gallon donor, I've gladly traveled miles to donate. It is great a site is so close now. All the Oneblood staff members at this location have been wonderful to interact with. I will definitely keep coming back.
