  Dr. Elzie was my Pediatrician when I grew up, so I was very surprised to see he was still practicing at PPP now that I’m preparing to find care for my future baby. I was excited but met with disappointment once they told me they don’t accept babies born at birth centers or home births. This was my first time hearing a provider refuse based on that. It’s not listed on their website and the nurse who shared this information over the phone was condescending and as the conversation went on it was clear she had misinformation about Florida LICENSED midwives and the care they provide. When asked why they don’t accept babies born out of the hospital, she said because the babies don’t receive the proper care and shots they need that’s given if they were born in the hospital…. But the medications/care she was referring to are actually offered OOH (vitamin K, erythromycin eye ointment, PKU) and it’s required by law for the midwives to refer babies be seen by a pediatrician within 24-48 of discharge. She stated that for babies born out of the hospital they would only see them at their 1 month wellness visit and would need to see proof they’ve received newborn care up until that point… care they can only get from another Pediatrician?! That’s so backwards instead of providing pediatric care from the beginning. Again, very disappointing to know this office has a “policy” like this that’s rooted in misinformation. Out of hospital birth is safe for low risk moms and newborns. Although this is my first baby, I have experience working in a birth center and as a student midwife. This just goes to show that there are providers out there that are against the work Florida midwives, Florida licensed and trained medical professionals, are doing to provide women with a birth choice in our community. Wow!

  I have 3 kids (4yrs, 2yrs and 11mths) that have been going here since they were born. The doctors and nurse practitioners are great but the front staff and the nurses are horrible! They are rude and talk down to you like you are stupid! Instead of helping to solve the problem they just keep talking in circles in a condescending tone! I’m now in search for a new pediatrician because I can’t deal with the front staff and nurses any longer

  My kids dr has the rudest phone operators around and they lie all the time won't give out names or there operator number will be reporting to anybody I can

  This is an old-fashioned medical practice with wonderful humanitarian pediatricians who are under clear and fairly substantial pressure, much of which I assume derives from their desire to be helpful to a range of clients--including some in serious need--while dealing with the incessant demands for profitability that beset our troubled medical system. You will not find sweeter or more thoughtful people anywhere, but the pressure shows.
