I am updating my previous bad review bcuz of another horrible experience with One Blood. Yesterday was the final straw and I have now officially given up with One Blood. If donating wasn’t so important (I have personal reasons why I donate) I would just stop donating altogether. But one thing is for sure: One Blood will never get any of my (RARE) blood again. Yesterday i decided to give One Blood another chance since there was a One Blood Bus near my home. I have written off going to the One Blood physical location nearby due to previous attempts at giving and being turned away due to employees looking for any excuse they could find to get out of working. So I thought the Bus would be different. It was and it wasn’t. At least these phlebotomists were going to “try” to do their job instead of just turning me away immediately. I arrived at the bus and after i filled out the paperwork I told them some phlebotomists have trouble finding veins on me so if there was someone there who is better at locating hard to find veins than others, send em my way. When I saw both phlebotomists couldn’t have been more than 23 years old i knew right away this probably would be a waste of all of our time. But i stayed positive and joked around with them, even informing them that if they had to fish for a vein they should not feel bad because it doesn’t bother me. So, the young girl starts fishing around and eventually gives up saying it’s because I “clotted” my veins while gently squeezing the ball she told me to squeeze while she was attempting to find a vein. So it was my fault. Got it. So she then asked if i wanted to try the other arm and I said of course. You see, my father died many years ago because there wasn’t enough blood on hand where he was after he had an accident. And ever since then I made it my personal mission to donate several times every year so no one would ever have that happen to them. So of course I want to try my other arm. I’d even let them use my foot if they had to (I know that isn’t allowed, it was just a joke). On this arm I even pointed to the exact location of the spot where the phlebotomist took my blood at a different donation center a few months ago after One Blood denied me because I had a bandaid on. She goes “oh there it is! I feel it! Thank you for showing me the spot!” So I thought to myself “finally”… So she gets her needle, sticks it in me, and all of a sudden she can’t find it. She starts fishing around and eventually gives up once again saying it’s because “I clotted my veins on this arm too while gently squeezing the ball she told me to gently squeeze. Again? Seriously? So, it was my fault I couldn’t donate blood AGAIN at One Blood. It wasn’t because of an inexperienced, twenty-something year old, new phlebotomist who has probably only been on the job a few months or even weeks. It was because of something I did even though she was the one who instructed me to do what she claimed caused this. It was my fault? Not hers? Well, that’s what she claimed anyway. I mean, I give her credit for trying and for being nice and personable (unlike her colleagues at the permanent One Blood location on 22nd Ave N around 68th street). But don’t blame it on the person taking time out of their life to donate using some lame excuse as your reason. I have a rare blood type that is very valuable to blood centers and your company makes a lot of money off my rare blood type. Be honest and take some responsibility for your incompetence. Had she said “I’m so sorry, I’m new at this and your veins aren’t very easy to find” I would’ve probably given One Blood another chance (the Bus anyway, not their physical location). But I’m now officially done with One Blood. Between the laziness of their employees who look for any excuse they can think of to get out of having to work, to the excuse-making/blaming/lying about why she couldn’t find a vein, I’ve had enough. One Blood is officially off my donation list. I’ve tried to donate 3 times and am 0 for 3. I haven’t had one single issue with the other donation center

I scheduled an appointment with OneBlood because I know how urgent the need for blood donations is. Unfortunately, when I arrived on my lunch break, they were running 30 minutes behind. This meant I wasn’t able to donate, even though I had an appointment. If the need is truly so great, the donation centers need to be more efficient and respectful of people’s time. Many donors come on limited breaks, and long delays make it difficult to follow through. I hope OneBlood can work on improving their scheduling and efficiency so more people are able to successfully donate.

I have medical issues that make giving blood a challenge at times but I think her name was deema, she seemed new but was extremely helpful, friendly and worked with me to do so. She also got the needle in the first time with no bruises, kudos to her ,the rest of the staff also was helpful and in not an easy client especially that day
