This review is based on laser lip and tongue frenectomies performed on my older newborn by Dr. Miner. He is the only dentist in Durango and surrounding areas who does tie releases with laser. I brought my baby to see him after a diagnosis of faltered growth, despite exclusive breastfeeding. The lactation consultant said her latch was somewhat shallow. Digging around in my baby's mouth, I thought there might be a hooded lip tie and a posterior tongue tie. The pediatric provider told us that we were on the cusp of needing to supplement her due to poor weight gain and fussiness. I didn't ask the pediatric provider to assess for ties because I don't believe that they are competent in this area of infant feeding, especially in the case of posterior/submucosal tongue ties.
Dr. Miner's office fit me in on the same day that I called, which I was extremely grateful for! Dr. Miner said my baby's tongue was quite restricted, and I decided to proceed with both releases that same day in the office. I thought $650 cash was very reasonable considering his monopoly in our area, and it was too late to add our baby to dental insurance anyway. The procedure was quick and easy with minimal bleeding. She did seem to have a somewhat deeper latch right away and clearly had more mobility in her tongue. I never had any pain with nursing so I can't comment on that potential reason to release. We continued to see a lactation consultant at the hospital once or twice a week to work on latching and positioning while she was learning to use her new tongue.
My baby still had poor weight gain at a week post releases, so we did end up triple feeding for a month (using an SNS) while continuing to work on latch. She gained weight, became much less fussy, and ultimately her latch improved significantly over time. I also did suck training and oral motor exercises with her at home. My baby's NP was supportive of the tie releases and told me that Dr. Miner does sometimes assess a baby and say that there isn't a tie. After a month, she was able to get back to the breast exclusively---I believe that the tie releases and lactation support were the keys to this success. It was well worth it to save our breastfeeding journey. Now that my baby is older, she has much less restricted movement of her tongue and lips, which have enabled her to take well to solid foods as well as drink from a cup and straw.

Do NOT go here for TMJ help!
I went to this dentistry seeking help for TMJ. They did an evaluation of my jaw and then told me to see a myofascial specialist. They also offered a pulse oximetry sleep study, which I agreed to.
When I was leaving, I asked to pay my bill, but they told me insurance covered it. I completed the study, and after that, they never contacted me with results and ignored my calls requesting them.
Seven months later, I received a bill for $225. When I called for an explanation, they didn’t return my call. Instead, they sent a threatening letter stating: “You can pay the balance of $225 and we will go over the results of your pulsox, or we will take further action if we have not received payment by November 25th, 2025.”
They refused to speak with me about the bill and expected immediate payment—even though it took them SEVEN months to send it. At this point, the pulsox results are useless because I’ve already pursued other treatments for my TMJ pain since they never followed up.
My regular dentist told me they are not worth going to, and now I see why.
Do not go here for TMJ help. They will just refer you to a specialist and leave you with a $275 bill (insurance paid $50) seven months later.
**RESPONSE** Their response to my review is very frustrating. 1) I never said my dentist referred me. This is inaccurate. I found this place on google and later told my dentist I visited this establishment. In the conversation, he said "I would not have recommended you to go there." 2) On my way out the door, they told me there were no additional costs. 3) Interesting that there was no response to how they sent me a bill seven months later or how they did not provide the results of the study that they promised. 4) When they sent me the bill, I called them immediately to inquire. They refused to call me back (several times) and again, a month later, sent a threatening letter instead. It could have been an easy conversation, but they refused to call me back to discuss.
It is frustrating that this business is not taking responsibility for the poor service. Just apologize. It goes a long way. There are several reviews expressing the same frustrations.
I usually never write reviews, but this experience was beyond infuriating that I had to express it somewhere.

Truly, I would have to write a full-length novel to adequately detail all of the things that went horribly wrong over the course of nearly 5 years as a patient of Dr Miner’s. It took a failed root canal, an ensuing root infection, a failed surgery to correct failed root canal and resulting infection, and the suggestion of Dr Miner that a third procedure take place (scheduled 3 months out, of course) before I woke up and considered the possibility that perhaps the care I’d been receiving was inadequate. None of these things were free, by the way. The pain that I experienced as a result of this issue from December 2024-May of 2025 was unrelenting and debilitating to the point that I was unable to function in my daily life. When I finally had enough, I began shopping around for a new dentist believing that my only option for a life free of pain was to have my teeth replaced by dentures. Thankfully, I found a compassionate and knowledgeable doctor who (with the help of multiple specialists) saved my teeth and corrected every one of my problems in a matter of 8 short weeks. Now I am finally living pain free. In the process of shopping around, I learned that I am far from the only patient of Dr Miner who has suffered needlessly in this way. Please do your research before entrusting your care to this practice.
Edit to add: It seems that Dr Miner must have forgotten that time when my husband called his personal cell phone after hours to express his urgent concern for the extraordinary level of pain that I was suffering. Evidently Dr Miner has forgotten many things. The defensive tone of this practice’s response to my review should tell prospective clients all they need to know.

This guy botched two dental implants for me, resulting in a few of the most painful months I've ever experienced during the healing process. But surprise! They never healed because they were loose. So I endured months of suffering just to have the implants removed (and, of course, still be charged for the service)! The office is also full of Botox advertising, so while you're waiting for a cleaning you'll be made to stare at a poster encouraging you to examine and fix your 'flaws' such as wrinkles. On top of all this, I received a letter informing me that this office is no longer accepting dental insurance. Period. "You can submit for your own out of network benefits!" Don't waste your time or money here. His services aren't cheap.
