Breast Medical OncologistHenry Mayo Newhall Hospital
Henry Mayo is a 357-bed, not-for-profit community hospital and trauma center. Your family can count on us for critical life-saving services and specialized care when quality of life, comfort, safety and compassion are important to you and your loved ones. Our emergency department is open 24-7 to serve you, and a panel of physicians, both specialists and sub-specialists, are available around the clock for your most critical needs.
Although the service and the staff are wonderful, the billing practices are outrageous. Veloz charges $225 for a mammogram, $225 for an ultrasound mammogram. At the time of service, I paid what I was told was my deductible of $387. However, they billed insurance $2,547. The deductible under my plan came to over $1400. The largest bill came from Henry Mayo Hospital , although I never entered the facility, with explanations to insurance as vague as “miscellaneous hospital” . I have never received a statement from Henry Mayo and the patient portal merely shows “mammogram”. The billing department never answers the phone or returns calls. I will have to demand service in person and plan to file grievances over this disgusting billing practice and lack of response.

I've been going to Sheila Veloz for years and have always had excellent care. Everyone from the front office to the tech's have always been so caring. I always get my letter every year telling me all was good and see you in a year. Well this year I got a call which I knew meant all was not okay. And it's not. I have a small mass and I have to go back for additional testing. Am I nervous? Of course I am but the tech Lisa who'd done my test the day before got on the phone and was as encouraging as she could be. The receptionist was very thoughtful and made sure both tests were done the sameday so I didn't have to wait. I can't say thank you enough. Sheila Veloz is #1 in my book. Thank you.

I have been trying to schedule a mammogram & ultrasound at this facility for over a month. My doctor has sent over the request twice, first time they said never received (I had the fax receipt); second time they received but never called to schedule me. So I called and was told that my doctor hadn't worded the request correctly. So they sat on the request for weeks rather than seeking clarity from me or my doctor. I then called and was informed they needed all my prior films and reports before they could schedule. I'm a high risk breast cancer patient and their lack of communication can literally kill me. Well, now I have no desire to schedule any diagnostic exam. I'm going to another facility that cares about their patients and that can ACTUALLY communicate with patients! After my experience I'm just not buying any positive reviews of this place. They deserve no stars.

There simply is no better Breast Imaging Center than the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Center in Valencia. Halloween will mark my 11th year anniversary of having my mammograms done here, and I can assure you that there is nothing scary about their process. From the receptionists and billing, to their nurse navigators and doctors, they serve their fellow community members with excellence and love. Love, not only for what they do, but love for who we individually are. Everyone has always shown me compassion and kindness and I know that I am not the exception. Quite the opposite: they provide this level of care for every single woman that crosses their doorstep, each and every day. They are a gift and a sparkling gem in our community. So please don't hesitate, schedule your breast exam today. The warm ambiance and staff will put you immediately at ease and you will be oh-so-glad you did.

They are so kind and caring team. I had fear before the lumpectomy procedures but they made me very calm and peaceful. Also, they are really professional. I am so thankful I had a great team. Thank you.
