No Stars, worst experience ever. Keep in mind I am an Emergency Department Nurse. When I was initially greeted by staff I was told that a UA and TB titer lab draw would take 3 hours at this urgent care. Which made absolutely no sense with a clinic with 3 people in it. They realized they didn’t initially read my paperwork correctly and that I also needed a new physical for work and a N95 mask fitting (where it’s a BYO mask/N95) then they said it was going to be 5 hours. The most annoying part was that they had
Inexperienced staff, where a staff member kept having to call her coworkers every time I have a question to ask them how to do something, or where to find information that she should know already. For example, if they had a tracker number for employers for TB to pull up in their EHR, she looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language, then would again call her coworker on the phone. Ultimately, I told her it was fine, I will tell my employer that she didn’t know where to find the information. After all that was true and she couldn’t and she literally was keeping me after business hours there.
Another annoying aspect of this visit is that I actually have health problems and I already had completed a physical this calendar year a couple of months ago and passed at my PCP, but the Doctor, E. OLAM was more focused on chronic issues that I had for 16 years, which were controlled with medications, and I’ve been working with for several years with no issues. Despite explaining everything, she failed my physical. She literally ran out of the office and left right after my physical. Giving off the impression she didn’t really listen, care or want to do her job. Which was disheartening. She wanted me to have my PCP or specialist for a chronic issue sign off one assessment, which meant for me to get another physical to pass her physical. I explained I already had passed a physical with them. (Yes this was an annoying chicken and egg situation) Thankfully, my employer let me just use my PCP one since Concentra was making things FAR MORE DIFFICULT to get an updated one.
Furthermore, one of the employees doing my mask fitting over heard part of this conversation and thought because I wasn’t signed off on my physical that I didn’t need my N95 mask fitting - so I had to wait even longer after business hours. Instead of the staff member just asking me, she called the doctor asking if it was necessary? When I was a few feet away wasting her time and my time. Then she needed to be walked through over the phone how to do a N95 mask fitting test. Which again, working in a hospital, I have done several times. I am also a strong believer in young novice level healthcare workers needing to start somewhere
but don’t leave them alone when they aren’t ready and provide adequate training first.
But you guessed it, it gets worse after completing everything I asked for a tracking number for the TB test and wanting to just go home. I shared when I felt upset to this staff member feeling like I wasted my time. She explained, “Oh several people have issues with this doctor, especially when we all saw your chart that’s what we were all talking about because you had a lot of boxes checked, that’s why we were all talking earlier we knew you were going to fail”. The part that bugs me is not that they were even talking about me from a clinical sense is that she thought it was a good idea to share that with me. Additionally, I witnessed what their talking about me looked like which was a bunch of gossiping girls making fun of someone who has chronic health issues. Patients should never be made fun of since they did not ask for these health conditions. As healthcare employees we are held to higher standards and I did not feel valued or respected in these moments.
Again, worst experience I’ve had as a patient and I will never go back.
