We have been patients at this orthodontic office for over a year, and my daughter has received very few actual adjustments due to ongoing scheduling problems on their side. Appointments get canceled, rescheduled months out, and we are told someone will call us back — but they don’t. I sent a detailed email over a month ago and have called multiple times, leaving messages with different staff members. No one has responded. As a result, my daughter’s orthodontic treatment has been seriously delayed despite being in active treatment and fully paid for. The lack of communication and follow-through is unacceptable, especially in healthcare. At this point, I am seeking to transfer her treatment because the clinic has been unable to provide consistent care or even basic communication. I hope this review finally gets the attention of management, because we have tried every private channel first.

When making the appointment, I was not told that I would not meet a dentist in person, but be connected with the dentist via a virtual call while I am inside the office. I was informed that a procedure needs to be done, however, they were not able to schedule, because all their dental providers were busy for the following weeks. During my visit, x-rays were taken, I asked to get these sent to my email address. I had to follow up multiple times for this to happen.

This dental office left me in a room and forgot about me. i never saw the dentist after my X-rays. I came in with a toothache. iI asked for antibiotics and the prescription was not filled till i called back to inquire the next day. I was called for an online goggle meetup consultation but could not get connected. To this date 8 days later no one has reached out to me...

My dentist visits always give me anxiety and I was so pleased with each member of the staff from the front office, hygienist and more importantly the dentist who pulled my wisdom tooth.. He has excellent chair side manners and walked me through the procedure each step of the way. I definitely recommend this first class staff at Zak Dental.

I went to Zak Dental (Ruffin Road, San Diego) in May 2025 for a routine checkup after my longtime dentist’s office closed. Nothing hurt. No tooth pain, no problems—just a normal visit. After X-rays, I wasn’t seen in a typical exam format. Instead, there was a virtual consultation, and I was immediately told I needed two crowns. The message was delivered with a strong sense of urgency, and I felt pressured to move forward. They charged me about $2,000 on the spot. At the next visit, I received temporary crowns that made both teeth sensitive, and the temporaries came off multiple times before I returned for the permanent crowns. During the appointments, Dr. Olsen and the assistants were joking and acting very nonchalant while working on my teeth, which did not inspire confidence. They made the crowns in the office, and then left me with an assistant to fit them. The top crown seemed “okay” at first, but the bottom crown started giving me problems immediately—my tooth became extremely sore, and I had to come back multiple times. After repeated visits, Dr. Olsen finally decided the bottom crown needed to be redone through a lab. When I questioned why I was suddenly having all these issues with a tooth that never bothered me before, I was told: “I don’t have an answer, do you? Maybe you need a root canal.” I found that response dismissive and unacceptable. After over two months of appointments, I finally received the lab-made crown for the bottom tooth. I hoped the ordeal was over and decided I would not return. But a few months later, my top crowned tooth started feeling sore. I tried to ignore it, but two days ago (on a Saturday) the “permanent” top crown fell out. I went to an emergency dentist and was told the crown was designed incorrectly, needs to be completely redone, and because the tooth is now sore, I may need a root canal. At this point, I know I could go back and push Zak Dental to fix it, but I honestly don’t want to put myself through this again. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Zak Dental—especially if you’re being rushed into expensive work.
