Visit the Planned Parenthood health center in San Bernardino, CA for emergency contraception (morning after pill), abortion, pregnancy testing, STD treatment, birth control, and sexual and reproductive health care.
I am deeply disappointed by my experience at this Planned Parenthood location while receiving abortion care. I came in during an extremely vulnerable time and left feeling judged, embarrassed, and shamed.
Staff asked how many abortions I had previously. After answering honestly, the provider made a remark along the lines of “okay, let’s get you on birth control” without asking, accompanied by a facial expression that felt openly judgmental. There was no discussion and no questions about my medical history or why birth control has not worked for me — just assumptions.
During vitals, my blood pressure was elevated. I made a light, joking comment that my boyfriend and I had been arguing a lot. Instead of responding with basic bedside manner, the provider shut me down coldly. Later, when I logged into my patient portal, I found links added about protective sex and relationship problems, which I never asked for and which felt inappropriate and assumptive. I have never received resources like this from any other clinic.
The overall atmosphere was uncomfortable. Multiple staff members gave off a judgmental attitude that made me feel looked down on. This was a stark contrast to my experience at an independent women’s health clinic, where I was treated with compassion and dignity.
Additionally, my sedation during the surgical abortion was poorly handled. I woke up extremely dizzy and nauseous, far worse than during a previous identical procedure at another clinic where I felt clear-headed and fine. It did not feel individualized or well-managed.
No patient should feel shamed for seeking legal abortion care. Judgment, facial expressions, and assumptions have no place in healthcare. I would not recommend this location to anyone seeking compassionate, trauma-informed abortion care.

Rennovated, clean, inclusive and kind. I had all my concerns addressed and I felt listened to. I got what I needed and my partner was able to wait with me in the waiting room and welcome me back after the appointment.

While I appreciate the services you provide to the community, I am disappointed in the communication from this particular clinic. This is a warning. Beware! Yes, they say they say they accept or take your insurance, but make sure you get CONFIRMATION that they are CONTRACTED with your insurance company BEFORE your visit or you will likely be paying OUT of NETWORK fees. If you have United Healthcare, please go somewhere else. It may save you a lot of money you don't need to pay.

The front door isn't available so you have to use side entrance. You cant just walk in you have to check in with security guard outside in the sun then wait in the sun since it's a small shaded area with only about 4 chairs available so if all chairs are taken then good luck smh. This location sucks.
