After a couple of years of living with daily pain, numbness, and tingling, I finally found relief thanks to Dr.Rojeh Melikian and the artificial disc surgery he performed. It’s now been 70 days since the procedure, and I can confidently say this has been a life-changing experience. The numbness and tingling that used to be part of my everyday life are completely gone, pain in glutes are mostly gone and my lower back pain has decreased by about 50% and I am expecting to feel more relief moving forward.
Dr.Melikian was patient, compassionate, and thorough from the very beginning. He always took the time to listen to my concerns and made sure all my questions were answered. He never promised 100% relief and warned me about all the possible risks. I especially appreciated that he understood my pain, prescribed me pain medications and explored every non-surgical option before recommending surgery it showed his integrity and genuine care for his patients.
His bedside manner and professionalism made a difficult process much easier to go through. I’m extremely grateful for the care I received and highly recommend Dr.Melikian to anyone dealing with spine issues.

I recently had bilateral microdecompression surgery with BMAC stem cell therapy performed by Dr. Rojeh Melikian, and the experience exceeded all expectations. From the initial consultation through post-op care, Dr. Melikian and his team were exceptional—professional, compassionate, and incredibly knowledgeable.
He took the time to explain everything clearly, answered all my questions, and helped me feel confident in my treatment plan. The procedure itself went smoothly, and the recovery has been remarkable. I’m already seeing significant improvements in mobility and pain relief.
If you’re dealing with spine issues and looking for a cutting-edge, minimally invasive solution, I highly recommend Dr. Melikian. His expertise and patient-centered approach make all the difference!

Dr. Melikian performed a disc replacement surgery on me in March of 2025. It was a great experience. He did an amazing job of educating me and making me comfortable with the idea of getting surgery. I met with at least 3 surgeons, and I am confident that I made the right choice. The surgery was a success and went exactly as he described it to me. I would definitely recommend him to anyone who is considering a similar surgery.

What’s Causing My Back Pain?
The most common cause of back pain tends to be from strained muscles. The pain tends to be most severe right after the injury but can gradually worsen over the first few hours. Strain in your back muscles is most often caused by asking too much of them (ie. Lifting a heavy item) or asking them to work for too long (ie. moving boxes all day long at work).
If I’m experiencing back pain, when should I see my doctor?
Most of the time, injuries such as back strain will resolve within a few weeks with rest and anti-inflammatory medications.
Warning signs which should prompt a visit to the doctor include:

How is a herniated disc diagnosed and treated?
To make the diagnosis, your doctor will perform a history and physical exam to see if your symptoms are consistent with a ruptured disc. If appropriate, an MRI of your neck or back will show the exact location and size of the herniation.
The treatment goals are to relieve the discomfort and prevent any permanent injury to your nerves. Treatments range from medications and physical therapy to epidural steroid injections or surgery. Depending on the location and size of the disc, surgical intervention may consist of removing only the piece of the disc that has herniated or removing the entire disc.
What Are My Treatment Options for Degenerative Disc Disease?
After a diagnosis of degenerative disc disease has been made, we will go over your treatment options specific to your particular situation. In the absence of arm or leg weakness, treatment options will always begin with conservative treatments such as physical therapy, anti-inflammatories, and rest. Other options to discuss are when to add acupuncture or chiropractic treatments into your treatment regimen. Surgical treatments can be discussed if conservative treatment fails to provide relief or if you have associated nerve compression causing arm or leg weakness. Depending on the scenario, these can range from minimally invasive decompression surgery to artificial disk replacement or fusion.
