- AKAna KellerNov 16, 20251.0I went for a pap and check-up. The PA, a young Indian woman, begins examining me and within 5 seconds tells me I have genital warts. I was obviously shocked/confused as I was not expecting this nor had I noticed anything prior to my appointment. I asked her if she was sure and she said yes, she was absolutely certain that's what it was. This was a very emotional and serious diagnosis as one might imagine. She advised me to contact my primary care doctor for treatment. After the diagnosis I contacted past partners to let them the know the news. This was an extremely difficult and emotional process. I then made an appointment with a dermatologist for treatment as this was what my primary care physician advised. Upon visiting the dermatologist, I was given another more thorough exam to confirm the diagnosis. The dermatologist tells me I do NOT have genital warts, instead it is a viral skin infection called molluscam contagiusm. I was obviously very relieved to receive this news now knowing I did not have an STD. Unfortunately the emotional and psychological damage had already been done. Relationships were ruined over this false diagnosis by the PA at Planned Parenthood. Thinking back on the interaction I can't believe how quickly and arrogant she was upon diagnosing me. Not only was she wrong but her bedside manner was terrible. In closing, I advise anyone to get a 2nd opinion from a diagnosis from this location. The PA there is obviously incompetent.
