Showed up at 12:30 PM for a walk-in Health Screening and was redirected to apply Family Pact (no insurance) and sign papers. Was told there was only one Doctor in office so I couldn’t receive help until 2:10 PM. This was cutting it close for my schedule but needed it anyway, so I said yes. Took the bus (I have no car) to the local mall and waited for an hour, then came back at 1:45. I believed I was checked in and waiting to be called at this point since I signed papers in-person and filled forms online as well. Multiple people are walking in and out so I ask at 2:20 (10 minutes past my appointment time) if I was never checked in. The woman at the desk asks for my information, despite being the same person who I spoke to not too long prior when the building was empty. She says there are 3 people in front of me at this point. I’m panicking at this point because I have a bus to get on at 2:59. There’s no way I can get treated in time despite having been there and waiting for 3 hours. I ask again to clarify why I wasn’t receiving treatment despite arriving before everyone else’s appointment times and she states that there is then only one person ahead of me—it’s 2:35 at this point. I tell them I’m going to have to cancel and leave because there’s no way I can possibly wait any longer, and cried on my way out. I’m not one who likes to complain, but this experience was devastating for me and my situation is not merely as difficult as many people I know are actually suffering and need care. Please do better for others next time, Lakewood PP.
For those seeking emergency care, walk-ins are highly insecure for treatment. Plan a whole day to seeing a provider here if TRULY necessary. In any case, seek care elsewhere.
