My complaint has to do with their passport photo set up which requires a person to sit on a stool that is 30 inches high. I brought my elderly parents (dad is 91, mom is 88 and uses a wheelchair) to the store and was shocked to see the set up with the stool. The photo guy doesn't really know why it is set up this way. I asked him why don't they just make the white background board full length? I can see it was only half length. The bottom of the white board sits around 2.5 feet above the ground where the top of the board reaches around 6 or 6.5 feet (my guess).
My mother is in a wheelchair and has mobility and stability issues. She has enough trouble getting into the wheelchair and in and out of the car. There was no way she was getting on that thing! My dad could probably do it but, it wasn't worth the risk.
I was informed that it was last minute decision to even have a passport service at this location ---Am I supposed to feel grateful/lucky for this fact ? hmmmmm?
I am mainly posting my complaint because there was no information on their website that describes that they expect customers to be seated on a stool that is 30" high.
This is vital information and needs to be included as it's the same set up in all the stores that offer passport photos service (I asked the staff as I was hoping another store might have a full length white background and no need for 30" stool).
Due to the fact you have to sit on this 30" stool which does not have an adjustable height mechanism (it's just a plain solid stool with no handles), it would be highly "unsuitable for those who are handicapped, have mobility or stability issues or needs to be seated in a wheelchair" and possibly very young children.
Attention Management and Upper Management: Please modify your website to include text advising customers that they will need to sit on a 30" high stool in order have their passport photo taken and this might not be suitable for those those will mobility or stability issues due to the height of the chair.
I am very disappointed by this experience because it took me a lot of effort to bring my parents to the store.
I know London Drugs is a strong supporter and promotes inclusivity for people with disabilities. Yet the way their passport photo area was set up, it was definitely 'not an in-store accessible experience'
If you are going to offer passport photo, don't forget about those who can't stand or can't sit on your stool. How much would it have cost for you to set it up properly with a full length white background in the first place? If you can't or won't modify it, then please modify your website.
It took me a lot of work just to get my parents out of the house into your store. The parking lot with its angled parking spaces was not great either (not like the old location across the street) and I don't recall seeing a handicap parking stall either (but I could be wrong).
I asked the staff if there was any photographer nearby offering passport service and was informed there was one located 4 blocks west (at 2228 E. Hastings). I am glad they were at least helpful in providing me with that information. I drove my parents there and had them stay in the car while I checked out the place first. It's a major operation getting my mother in and out so I don't want to go through that again. The place is called Best Quality Photo (Angelove Photo Studio Inc.) and the photographer (a really nice guy) operates at the back of the bubble tea store called Angelove Bubble Tea). I believe he also runs the bubble tea business but does the passports on the side. He speaks English, Cantonese and Mandarin. He has professional photography equipment as well. Thank God there was a full length white background and he had no problem with my mom staying seated in her wheelchair. I finally got my parents their passport photos done.
He also provides digital photos for additional fee.

Only found out about this store thanks to Google Maps. Shoutout to the young Asian male who hid behind the computer and sang loud enough for me to hear to pass the time since there were maybe only 2 other customers in store. I appreciate the personalized experience of shopping at LD.

It's good for a small LD. I thought they carried Carol's Daughter products, but they don't. I love they carry Zevia. And it's close to other places I shop at.
