I didn’t think that he meant me but then a security staff came closer and stood beside me, watching. There was no one else in the line and I wasn’t causing disruption, I was simply paying for 3 transit cards. It made me feel singled out and uncomfortable, and I left the store quickly, not wanting to appear “more suspicious.” I can’t help but wonder if this would have happened if I were a white woman instead of a small, dark-skinned one.
