- DEDan EdsonJul 17, 20255.0For more than two years, Home Instead South Vancouver has provided support for my somewhat infirm older brother that has enabled him to continue to live safely and in good health independently. In addition to assisting him with personal care, medications, dressing, mobility, and cleaning and laundry, Home Instead caregivers have accompanied him on medical appointments—arranging transportation, preparing him for travel, interacting with medical staff as needed, and (importantly!) taking notes. My family and I live quite a distance from Vancouver, and Home Instead has, in many ways, become a surrogate family to my brother. I have found Home Instead caregivers to be attentive, skillful, responsible, and nonjudgemental, and always sensitive to my brother’s needs. As well, they have been responsive to my family’s questions and concerns, and they quickly alert us to changes in his mental and physical health. My brother has developed a close, trusting relationship with Sergiy, his primary Home Instead caregiver, which has been a great comfort to the family. I have found Home Instead a pleasure to work with—flexible, always easy to contact, and quite adaptive to changing healthcare needs—and I would recommend it without reservation. My experience with Home Instead has demonstrated to me that the service Home Instead provides is a key component of effective elder healthcare.
