This is going to be a lengthy review bc I’ve been building frustration and debating posting for months. I’ve wanted to get my teeth fixed for years and finally decided to do it. I think I was just so excited to finally have the money to do it that I didn’t do enough research. Aside from the fact that I think I unnecessarily got four teeth pulled (I now know that this is an old fashioned cop out way to fix overcrowding that can cause health issues and make your face look sunken. But it’s done so there’s no going back for me) this has also just been one of the worst experiences of my adult life. My first two appointments, consultation and then records, I was put in a private room. But you’ll never see those rooms again and instead will be out in a big open room packed with chairs and you’ll have to lay down with your mouth wide open and a giant light in your face beside 8 more patients and staff running around everywhere. This was just odd to me but I could have gotten past it if not for the rest. During those first two appointments, two very sweet and knowledgeable girls worked with me along with Dr. Roberts. The girls were so kind and made me feel good about coming there. But then from the day I got my braces on to now, 10 months later, I have gotten what seems to be a brand new employee EVERY single time. I don’t know if my name was drawn to be the test dummy for the new employees or if this place is just the puppy mill of orthodontist assistants. Here is a rundown of my experience each time: Get seated and a girl starts working on my teeth. I can tell she is struggling and then she eventually asks for help. One of the more experienced girls comes over and tries to coach the other girl through it. The other girl will either not be able to do it and the experienced girl takes over OR she’ll finish it but it won’t be done correctly and the experienced girl will take it all out and start over from the beginning. Then Dr. Robert’s will make her 5 second appearance to critique their work and tell them what to do next time. My most recent appt is the one that did it in for me. I started out with the normal - someone that has no clue what they’re doing and asks for help. She messed up the top twice and the bottom once, cut my wire trying to trim something else and had to start over, then left a piece of wire and the colors she trimmed off in my mouth and I felt it poking and got it out myself. Then the more experienced girl that took over was yanking my head and mouth around, stabbing into my gums moving so fast, and not moving my lips out of the way so they were getting stabbed and pinched. So I had some girl playing around in my mouth like it was a game of operation for 45 minutes (this is every time) AND another girl man handling me for the next 15. Then Dr Robert’s makes her appearance and says they still didn’t do the top correctly, something didn’t get trimmed and was just hanging, and a wire wasn’t positioned right and would have started poking later. She fixed it quickly and I left with my lip busted and bleeding in three places and feeling very discouraged. I think this whole experience and atmosphere is weird but i could STILL could get over it if the staff was nice. I would honestly excuse everything if they were at least nice.Yet I think the most they have ever said to me is “open” and they make me feel like I’m a burden. Maybe I’ve just been unlucky with them, but just do your research before choosing! Your teeth are a big deal and how a place makes you feel can make all the difference. It’s a huge regret for me and I still have over a year left to dread going every month unless I can figure out a way to switch to somewhere else.
