This Safeway has become an absolute disaster. They have hordes of homeless people out front smoking cigarettes so the entire front of inside the store smells like cigarettes. Trying to check out was insane. There’s a line halfway down the store because five out of the nine checkout stations are flashing And there’s only one clerk helping and she’s moving as slow as humanly possible. I don’t understand how Safeway can have such low standards and allow this type of experience for their customers.

Incredibly pricey and low quality produce, I've seen red and yellow bell peppers increase 50% in price in less than 6 months of shopping here. Staff are sullen, hostile, and lazy. More concerned with yelling at paying customers for having reusable bags (to "prevent shoplifting" when there are no in-store baskets available) than moving aggressive panhandlers away from the only entrance. Walk 5 minutes away to PCC or a little further to Trader Joe's, where it does not smell like urine and you pay the same prices for higher quality.

This safeway has simultaneously raised costs, lowered food quality, and made quality of service worse. It takes 10 minutes for someone to come unlock the frozen fish. The beef is poor quality and just as expensive as premium quality beef elsewhere. The bagger kept trying to give my groceries to someone else. It's such a headache to go there, and I leave frustrated every time. The positive notes are that it sells cheerios which are hard to find nearby, and that it has a decent selection of toilet paper and paper towels. I really wish we had more options nearby.

THANK YOU FOR BRINGING BACK THE HAND BASKETS!! The stockers need to fill the shelves though. Whatever happened to night stockers? Is that not a thing anymore? I can go shop in the morning and only get 7 out of 10 things I went to the store for. And the one eyed black gentleman. He's been a pain to me on multiple levels. Hopefully he's been removed. Being in a downtown location, maybe you could bring bake some rolls that don't come in a dozen bag. I remember being able to buy single rolls once. We aren't all families of 4 living downtown.

Oh no! I can’t believe I actually asked to speak to a manager for the first time today… definitely was not in my cards. The woman at the self checkout was just… mean. Talk about the most belittling and rude person you can think of. The sign reads “about 15 items”… “About”… I had 21 and checking out would’ve taken me only a couple minutes (I personally don’t like to spend my free time at Safeway if I can help it, especially after this encounter). They only had one cashier with a very long line and no bagger either, which is fine, I can bag my own groceries but it doesn’t appear like many other people can. The self checkout had no line and if a line did form it lasted only a couple seconds. I don’t think my “extra” 6 items would’ve sent the store into a downward spiral. While I waited in line I could only think of how I could actually not be there and on my way home with my groceries by now. If you are going to enforce the 15 item rule so strictly, at least have the capacity to back it up. She acted like I had done the most taboo thing imaginable, like my shopping cart was bursting at the seems, and preceded to talk down to me like a child. The manager on duty was really receptive and nice, which I appreciated. I understand it’s the holiday season, things are busy, but I am not an outlet for you to vent your frustration and nasty attitude. I have done +10 years of customer service and would NEVER speak to someone the way she spoke to me. I felt embarrassed, like she was trying to publicly shame me or make an example out of me. But really, she should be the one that’s embarrassed, for having the audacity to talk down to a complete stranger the way she did.
