This Safeway is located on Harrison Ave. in Centralia. I stopped there to grab some snacks before helping my stepmother continue packing my father's house up. It is one of, if not the nicest Safeway store I've ever been in. It's clean, bright, merchandised appropriately to the upcoming holidays. They were busy but there were no long lines. The product selection is one you'd expect of a bigger city like Vancouver, WA or even Portland. The staff I interacted with were very helpful and actually smiled! It's easy on/off I-5 North and South. They have a deli, Starbucks and some really yummy bakery goods!

The place still needs staff that likes their jobs all you hear is about how other places are better than their and they don't care if customers hear what they are saying to each other it needs leadership and a sense of pride that they have benefits and 40 hours at good wages they don't care about that at all, Need late , early night leader

I’ve been to maybe a dozen branches of Safeway in my life, and, among them, I think I can count on one hand the number of friendly staff members I’ve dealt with there. The Centralia branch is the very worst; I can always expect plenty of surliness when I go there.
I’ve had better luck overall in Chehalis—a few of the staff members there are fairly friendly—but one of the managers at the Chehalis branch is more horrendous than almost anyone I’ve dealt with in any retail establishment in my 58 years of life—not just at Safeway, and not just in supermarkets, but in ANY stores of any kind. The managers of the Centralia branch are awful but bearable; however, that branch has fewer friendly staff members than does Chehalis.
In the sixth edition of The Better World Shopping Guide by Ellis Jones, Safeway was rated a “D,” indicating that their practices had significantly negative consequences for humans and the environment—but, since then, they’ve been raised to a “C-,” meaning that they now have mixed responsibility records. “C-“ is about what I would rate them, and I would give them 2 1/2 stars if I could. I’m choosing 3 stars partly because they have good prices and partly to distinguish my feelings about Safeway from my feelings about Walmart and Fuller’s, each of which I give 1 star. If I gave Safeway 2 stars, it would be more difficult for me to express how utterly atrocious the other two supermarkets are. Walmart and Fuller’s are truly and absolutely abominable (Walmart for social and environmental reasons, Fuller’s for personal reasons), but Safeway is merely horrible, and I want to make sure that the difference is clear.
