Food For Thought is a family restaurant in Williamsburg, Virginia, that’s as engaging for the mind as it is for the senses. Surrounded by quotes and images of inventors, scientists, and social leaders, our atmosphere aims to inspire families and encourage discussion over wholesome, delicious food.
Food For Thought’s menu is as diverse as the great thinkers themselves. Our diner’s choices vary from American classics, ethnic dishes, healthy vegetarian options, or one of our nightly seafood specialties. The foundation of our menu is built upon American staples like our famous Fork Tender Pot Roast, Grandma’s Meatloaf, and “fall off the bones” ribs. America grew up on these meals, and we love paying homage to our country’s past. To complement these favorites, we added some newer, more contemporary flavors and ideas like Pad Thai, Jamaican jerk chicken, flavored butters, and original vegetarian dishes. To ensure everyone finds something they love, we also provide a gluten-free menu, a kid’s menu (with healthy options!) and our “Magic 55” senior’s menu. Our food is prepared with love and served with pride.

Food was good, it had numerous choices and options, all the waiters were fast and polite. Though the price was very steep. Some foods lacked flavor like the grits or salmon. In my opinion they should add more salt or spice. The bread was very soft and flavored, along with tasty cornbread. The decorations and theme of the restaurant were fun and informative. They also had little games to play, that were fun and engaging with the family. All in all, I personally belive it's a good restaurant, just with a little lack of spice.

Solid restaurant, worth the stop. I like the way they laid things out inside. Prices are reasonable, and they have a GF menu. I tried the meatloaf/pot Roast combo meal. Great choice. The whiskey flight was interesting, but I'll stick to kentucky flights next time. Thank you for a great experience.

I had the 6 oz tenderloin filet and it was amazing, as per the usual for this outstanding restaurant. This should be a must visit whenever in the Williamsburg area. My wife had the pot roast again, with lovely mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. I had the mashed potatoes as well and the steamed broccoli. We also had the pecan pie for dessert and it was excellent.

I really enjoyed this place. The bread and cornbread that they brought out was a delicious start to our lunch. We tried the crab cake which was mixed reviews with one really liking it but another feeling like it was too much meat and not enough breading to balance out the flavor but everyone agreed the sauce with it was great. We also had the jerk and cilantro chicken which was so tender the butter knife just broke it apart vs cutting it. There was not a scrap of food left on our plates when we finished. Worth the visit if you are in town. We plan to go back and try some of the comfort food next visit.

I ordered the Crab-A-Bella and it was splendid! For my personal taste, I'd get it without the cheese blanket next time. Food For Thought could definitely get my business again. My only complaint was where we were seated due to the restaurant being full. Our table was right in front of the kitchen, which made for a chaotic dinner conversation. There were a few times that it looked as if we'd be tackled by servers or wearing someone's meal LOL! We had to time our exit from the table so no one would run into us. If that's my only option for a seat on my next visit, I'm politely declining. Overall, great food, kind staff, and thought-provoking concept. There's plenty to read on the walls while you wait.
