In 1966, Louis Seretis purchased a small confectionary. He named it Orapax for the street upon which the front door opened. Longshoremen, railroad workers, and other locals came to play pool and purchase medicine, cigars, beer, and a "Poormans Sandwich", spam and cheese on white bread. In 1973 Louis replaced the sandwich with his own original Greek pizza. The result was truly astonishing! Orapax become known throughout Norfolk as "The Place to Eat". His son Nick joined him in the family business in 1982. Now some 50 years later Nicks’ daughter Nicole is walking in her father's and Grandfather's shoes. Orapax is their dining room. Welcome to our house!

Food was good (fried calamari, moussaka and Greek salad this time), service was perfect. In my opinion, the place would be better if the ambiental music were Greek.

Went here last night with my 2 girls to eat together. The food, all around, was very good. The atmosphere was pretty good, a little clustered, but the room we were sat in was a bit smaller. We had a server plus one in training. The main issue we had was that when our food order came out, mine was wrong. Kebabs instead of the roasted chicken special. Not a problem, it was taken back stating they must've grabbed the wrong one. After 10 minutes, someone else came out asking if I was waiting for the kebabs. I stated no, and they left without saying anything. The girls finished their food, then after about 20-25 minutes, my food finally came out. Only after we asked, it was stated the wrong order was put in. I ate by myself as they talked. The server, and one in training, rarely came to the table after our order was placed. Even whenever trying to pay, it took 15 minutes and us going up to the bar ourselves to get it paid.
The food was great, no complaints there. The service, however, was disappointing. Nothing was ever said about a wrong order, just kept trying to give me kebabs instead. Then to make up for it, simply offered a baklava on the house. No apology ever said, no mention of the mistake, nothing.

Orapax is a warm, family-run Mediterranean restaurant in Norfolk. It combines a large, accommodating dining room with a genuine neighborhood feel.
The Food:
🇬🇷 Greek Sampler Platter. A great introduction to the menu. It features nine different offerings, but the Dolmades were a standout with spiced ground beef finished with a bright lemon sauce.
🔥 Saganaki. Served with wonderful flair! The flaming cheese was a great companion to the complimentary basket of fresh baked Greek bread.
🥣 Grain Bowl: A fresh and hearty option. The mix of fresh and pickled vegetables on a wild rice base was excellent, especially when paired with the feta and the cooling tzatziki/spicy cilantro sauce.
Service:
Special thanks to Hanna for the attentive and professional service. It was also a pleasure to meet Nicole, representing the next generation of the founding family.
Tip:
Check out their weekly and daily Happy Hour specials. They offer even greater value and discounts on an already reasonably priced menu.
Overall:
A great family-friendly restaurant serving generous plates at a fair price.

I come here a few times a year when we visit family. Typically it's a great experience but tonight was trash for me. My ordered came out as what looked like a dry square of hamburger helper garnished with a slightly dryer orange garnish. I then ordered a burger which the waitress asked if I wanted medium and them proceeded to drop off after my whole family had finished eating. The burger was cooked well and I got 12 fries and 1/3 were burnt. 20% mandatory tip was already on the $127 bill. Terrible experience.
