Nalak Thai is a gorgeous restaurant with a cozy atmosphere, great looking food, and attentive staff. We enjoyed our time here and will be coming back.
We ordered the Moo Ping which was very tasty. It had a great grilled flavor and the sweet and sour sauce was a nice touch. We also got a side of peanut sauce, and I highly recommend getting that too for the Moo Ping.
For our entree we got the Laad Na with a side of white rice. It was cooked well, fresh ingredients, but lacked flavor. It felt like something was missing, maybe a little salt? Not sure, but we mixed it with the sauces from the Moo Ping and it helped.
The matcha flight was very lovely and it was nice to try the different flavors. The Thai matcha was my favorite, followed by the mango, coconut and strawberry.
I will say, this Thai place is a little more expensive than others in the area so keep that in mind if you want to visit. Great for a date night, though.
Finally got to check out Nalak Thai! The interior is beautiful — the warm tones, greenery, and lighting are all put together so thoughtfully. It feels cozy, modern, and welcoming. The atmosphere was great and the staff were all really kind and attentive 🥰
For the appetizers, we ordered the tom yum soup, which I really appreciated because it actually had the right balance of sour and savory. A lot of places I’ve been to miss that and it ends up tasting hella flat. The fried tofu was perfectly cooked and it paired so well with the sweet chili pineapple sauce on the side, and the crushed peanuts in the sauce added the perfect finishing touch. We punished that plate pretty quickly haha.
For our entrees, we ordered the udon drunken noodles with beef and the green curry with crispy chicken, and both were delicious! It was my first time having drunken noodles made with udon noodles instead of the usual wide flat noodles, so it was a fun twist that still worked really well. The green curry was rich and flavorful, and he loved that they offered crispy chicken as a protein option since most Thai restaurants don’t.
To end the night, we tried three different matcha drinks: the coconut matcha cloud, Thai tea matcha cloud, and tiramisu crème matcha. We stayed up all night but honestly… no regrets at all 😂 Our favorite was definitely the Thai tea matcha cloud — so good and worth it!
Overall, Nalak Thai is such a great spot and I’ll definitely come back again to try more dishes! 🧡

We had an amazing experience at Nalak Thai. The food was absolutely outstanding. The Tom Yum Mama soup was flavorful with the perfect balance of spice and tang, the Khao Soi noodles were rich, comforting, and easily a standout dish, and the matcha flight was a fun and delicious touch! We like the strawberry matcha flavor the best, overall great variety and beautifully done.
Service was excellent from start to finish. They were attentive, friendly, and made us feel genuinely welcome.
The atmosphere was lively and energetic, making it a great spot for both casual dining and a fun night out.
Five stars all around. I would highly recommend Nalak Thai and will definitely be coming back.
Because of the great reviews and hype surrounding this newly reopened Thai restaurant under new ownership, Nalak, I decided to give their Pad Thai a try. Normally, I’m not a big fan of Thai food, but I’m always open to trying new restaurants. Let me tell you, I liked it.
What really stood out to me was the balance. The Pad Thai had much less sauce than most Thai restaurants, probably about half, which was perfect for someone like me who isn’t really into Thai food. Even better, only about half of the chicken was coated in sauce, so for the rest, I could actually taste the natural flavor of the chicken itself.
On top of that, Nalak was incredibly thoughtful. They packed two packets of soy sauce with my order. After a bit of woking on my stove, I was able to transform my pad thai into more of a simple stir-fried rice noodle style, which I really appreciated.
And let’s talk about the price. This flaworful Pad Thai, around 16 oz (correct me if I’m wrong), came with plenty of sides and was just a little over $20. Honestly, where else can you get a deal like that in the Fairfax area? People need to stop overanalyzing reviews and just go give them a try.
Overall, for about $20 and with minimal cooking skills, I was able to enjoy Pad Thai, stir-fried rice noodles, and even steamed white meat chicken all in one meal. I’m truly grateful that this location has welcomed its fourth owner since COVID, and I sincerely hope Nalak carries their vision forward and becomes the final, long term owner of this space.
I was a frequent visitor to the previous restaurant, and I can confidently say that Nalak Thai is far more than just a replacement. The new owners have completely remodeled and refreshed everything, and the result is outstanding. Nalak Thai is hands down one of the best Thai dining experiences I’ve had.
The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and genuinely charming. It feels like a modern Thai café you’d stumble into in Bangkok. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive. Zinny, who many regulars will recognize from the previous restaurant, is still there and remains one of the kindest and most patient people you could hope to meet.
The menu has been thoughtfully updated while still offering all the classic Thai staples. The Pad See Ew is fantastic, with excellent cuts of meat and perfect seasoning. The Basil Duck and Thai Steak were both cooked beautifully and packed with flavor. We also had ordered a few appetizers (Chicken Satay, Tom Yum, and Fried Tofu) all were delicious and generously portioned.
The drinks deserve a special mention. The mocktails and matcha drinks are exceptional! My favorites were the Mango Tango (if you like coconut, passion fruit and mango) and the Strawberry Matcha.
For dessert, do yourself a favor and order the Mango Sticky Rice. It absolutely lives up to the hype and perfectly completes the dining experience (It is pictured). Also ordered the fried banana ice cream which also was very good!
I noticed a negative review from a so-called “Local Guide” mentioning a billing issue. Please take that with a grain of salt. Minor hiccups happen at new restaurants, and they don’t reflect the quality of the food, service, or overall experience here. Please don't give his "AI" review any thought or time. These people think that one mistake on a bill and the world is ending.
Support a local business that’s clearly putting care and heart into what they do. I promise you’ll leave happy, full, and already planning your next visit.
