Wow! Such an upgraded dining experience since Pappas restaurants took over! Everything is clean, pretty and well kept and the food was outstanding! We got fajitas for 2 beef and pork carnitas. Both were delicious and tortillas were not too thick but still homemade! Fajita's are finally some of the best in Texas! Especially love them drizzled with the garlic butter included. Beef fajitas rival their sister restaurant Pappacitos! Much better value than both citos and Lupe Tortilla also known for great fajitas. Salsa and chips is much better than any other tex mex around. Their charro beans and rice are worth getting their own now. Great family value with Pappas restaurants from scratch food quality and service. First time going their since Pappas took over and I am super impressed 👍🏼👍🏼 My wife says this is our new GO TO place for Tex Mex. So glad to see and experience this upgrade with very reasonable prices at that! 30 to 40 percent cheaper than Lupes Tortilla or Pappacitos too. 😁

I visited On the Border in Mesquite for the first time on Mother’s Day. We had won a $25 gift certificate recently. Chips and salsa came to the table. They were tasty, except several of our chips were undercooked and still floppy. I ordered chicken tinga enchiladas (I think they were $11.99) and my husband ordered tacos Al carbon ($21.99) with the rice and beans on the side to share with our 5 year old since he doesn’t eat enough to justify a whole meal for himself. My meal was tasty enough- the beans are a little smokier than I like, but the green and sour cream sauces are both tasty. My husband’s tacos were so sad. I think I counted 9 little 1/2 inch squares of steak on each, which was hugely disappointing. Each taco was 2 inches shorter than my enchiladas. Each one of these is supposed to value $10. If you’re going to charge $22 for small steak tacos, at least load them up. You’d get more steak (and food in general) by ordering a kids steak quesadilla. His rice and beans portions were also both smaller than mine for some reason. There’s just no way to justify the price tag on that meal. Just to dig it in even deeper, when he bit into the spoonful of guac that came with his meal, he choked and coughed up an avocado pit. We expressed our disappointment and were met with “our portions changed” and “prices went up” because they ‘were purchase by the Pappacitos company’. I paid in cash and our change should have been bills and $0.20. All the bills were there, but they didn’t send the $0.20 to the table. We didn’t ask for it, but literally everything about this place left a bad taste in our mouth. We have no reason to visit On the Border in the future.

10stars for server Jamal!! He went above and to do the best he could on a busy holiday. Now OTB yesterday was a holiday indeed but no need to make the drinks weak as my knees trying to dance like Megan & the guacamole omg tasted like Mayo . And then tacos. Yesterday showed chain restaurant specials don't do it during holidays. They can't handle the capacity of people and just threw drinks & food together to make a holiday buck. This location has failed my taste beds and I'm very disappointed to Say I went to OTB and it was horrific

Left Applebees after sitting for 15 minutes without any service or even seeing our waiter/waitress we drove about 10 minutes here and so glad we did. Immediately greeted with a smile and sat promptly. The waiter was very polite and tentative with the chips/salsa and water…. Just the basic stuff that is lacking in the service industry now but really mashed the difference in a good experience or a poor experience. We ordered the ribs for $17 and the appetizer combo. The ribs are really good, recommend. The Border sampler came with some nachos , quesadillas and flautas , that was $19, not worth it… tbh at all. It should cost $12 tops. But I’ve always said I’ll have mediocre food and great service over good food and poor service. On the Border is a good place to go if you have guests that are not familiar with authentic Mexican food,,, I’d say they are the Denny’s of Mexican food.
