  Came up from Cincy for the day. This restaurant is amazing. Service was on point, the food was great ( got the sampler and 2 cream puffs), the atmosphere was amazing, and finally the beer was cold. 10/10 would definitely come back again.😉

  I hope this is a one-off experience, because Schmidt's is a Columbus institution. But yesterday's visit was not enjoyable for my entire party. Our waiter was pleasant and agreeable, but the service was slow and some of our food wasn't to the same quality that I remember of Schmidt's over decades of visits. Sausage was good but not great. Potato salad was as remembered and good. Sauerkraut was not great, but not bad, just very average. My wife's chicken was rubbery although good peppery flavor, though she didn't like either of those. My son's chicken schnitzel was good and he had no complaints. Don't know why it took 45-50 minutes to receive the food after ordering though, since everything we ordered are things that the kitchen likely had on hand and can prepare in minutes, plus the restaurant wasn't terribly busy, unlike weekends or during citywide events when it can be packed with patrons and tourists alike. Will I be back? Sure, but this wasn't the best experience, especially for showcasing the place for our out of town friends as well. Like I say, hopefully just a one-off.

  First time here my aunt took me out for Mother’s Day! I was very skeptical at first but this place did not disappoint in anyway shape or form! To me personally the wait was extremely worth it, and it wasn’t just the food that made it great, our server Lorenzo I highly recommend! Extremely knowledgeable, friendly, efficient, and all around just seemed like a great guy. Definitely will be back when I’m around this area again!

  I had a mixed experience at this restaurant. The food is actually good and reasonably priced, which is a plus. However, the service was very disappointing and made the overall experience frustrating. We followed the instructions on their website, which say to call ahead for reservations when the group is larger than six people. When we called, we were told that reservations are not really taken and that we should just come in and wait. So we did—but ended up waiting a long time. At some point, our place in line was apparently canceled. We were told they had sent us a text, which we never received. When we asked about the delay, there was no real solution—just that they had a policy of canceling after 10 minutes if the party doesn’t show up. The issue is, we were never notified that our table was ready, so we had no chance to respond. To make things worse, since we were a group larger than six, they split us into two separate tables. This makes it a poor choice if you’re planning to dine with a bigger group. The waitress was also quite rude, which didn’t help the situation. Overall, it felt like customer service wasn’t a priority, likely because the place is always busy. In short: good food and prices, but the service and organization need serious improvement. I wouldn’t recommend it for groups.

  We went for lunch wasn’t to many people there, the floor under our table was covered in food. My husband had to sit sideways to keep his feet out of it, was excited about getting the buffet but the food looked liked it had been laying around for a while so we passed. I got a piece of chocolate cake, $7.00 for a piece of cake and it was terrible, we didn’t even eat it. I don’t think we will be going back for quite some time. I was really shocked!
